Children say the darndest things. And sometimes it’s not exactly what they say but how they say it.
In a recent viral video, little 16-month-old AJ says mama in such a deep voice that it’s been compared to the sound of a demon of all things!
The way this baby says mama is hilarious – and only a little scary
The video featured AJ and his dad while being recorded by his mom, Maiken Woll Eide. She asks if he will come to see mama, and in response, he says, mama but not like you think he would. He says it in such a deep octave that it surprised his parents and made them crack up in laughter.
While he says mama in this funny and unexpected way, he just goes back to casually eating his berries, unaware of the hilariousness of his actions.
Don’t worry; this “demon” voice is completely normal
Although this voice AJ is speaking in is surprising, it is actually completely normal for him to be talking like a “demon.” The demon voice actually helps babies develop their regular voices, so you could say AJ is just practicing to get his vocal cords working.
Most babies with this type of noise are experimenting with language and communication. This noise is actually an excellent sound for your baby to experiment with, so if they are, be happy, not scared.
You can expect yourself to hear your own baby make demon noises or talk in a demon voice, so don’t be completely alarmed if you do. Besides, the voice is actually way cuter than scary, depending on what aspect you look at it.

Soon after posting this video herself, Good Morning America found it and posted it on their YouTube channel as well. They are a very famous news channel and post the latest news and more; AJ’s demon voice sure got their attention, making sense considering how cute it is.
The comments for this video are almost as hilarious as the actual video itself, with some stating,
“Could you imagine hearing this in the middle of the night through the baby monitor for the first time?”
Lots of people have joked the baby is possessed, but it’s obvious AJ is just trying to communicate the best way he knows how
It is alarming to hear him say mama the first time around, considering how deep and rough it sounds, which most don’t expect from a baby. However, this just means his vocal cords will be strong, so keep talking like a demon AJ!
One commenter made the comparison to the ghost hunters from films like The Conjuring and Annabelle,
“Everyone’s gangsta until Lorraine shows up saying, “that’s not your child”.”
All jokes aside, we are sure the parents adore their son’s scary but hilarious “demon” voice. As much as it is nerve-wracking, it is charming.
