In the United States alone, there are 107,918 eligible children are waiting to be adopted. Around 428,000 children are in the country’s foster care system. For these kids, finding a family that would take care of them for the rest of their lives isn’t that easy.
A 5-year-old boy from Grand Rapids, Michigan was lucky enough to get adopted.
Michael has been living with his foster parents for a few months already. His foster parents have decided to make him their legally adoptive child.
Like most kids who are getting adopted, he had to go through an adoption hearing.
It’s a very special moment so he wanted to make sure everyone who’s close to his heart was able to witness it. That includes his entire kindergarten class.
To show support to the young kid, his teacher brought the entire class to witness Michael’s special day.
Mrs. McKee, a kindergarten teacher from Wealthy Elementary School, talked to Michael’s mom. They came up with a plan to show their support to the little guy.
All of his classmates showed up at his adoption hearing!
Mrs. McKee came, too. All of his friends were there, waving paper hearts to show their love for Michael.
The boy’s parents found the act amusing.
They were super thankful for the effort of the entire class, particularly the teacher. They were quite amazed by the number of Michael’s friends, too. It just proves how kindhearted he is.
The kids even told the judge how much they adore Michael.
They explained how much their classmate means to them. Some of the kids even stood up as they were telling the judge that they love the kid and that they consider him their best friends.
Michael’s story easily went viral on social media.
A lot of people were touched by what happened at his adoption hearing. They were quite supportive of the little boy.

Another one said:
“This is incredible! There is no shortage of love in this room, that’s for sure. Congrats to Michael, all of his friends, and his new family!”
A Facebook user commented:
“I love it that this teacher was able to rally a class of kindergarten kids to the courthouse to witness an adoption of a classmate! What a special event! I wish everyone could experience this as it is very emotionally awesome!”
Getting support is important when a child is going through the adoption process.
The result isn’t always guaranteed to be positive so kids need a good support system to help them go through everything. In Michael’s case, he’s quite lucky. Apart from having really awesome parents, he also has great classmates and teacher who consider him extra special. They’ll do anything to make sure he feels
