There are certain people in this world who were simply born with soul. It’s not something you can teach or learn; you either have it or you don’t.

When it comes to little Demetrius Fisher, he’s got soul beyond his years.
Little Demetrius went viral when his grandmother Lydia Majette captured him singing a heartwarming, gospel song from the back seat of her car.

Within the following few weeks, footage of the toddler, who hadn’t yet turned two years old, was viewed more than 9 million times.

In the video, Demetrius is strapped into his car seat in the back of his grandma’s car. In the video, you hear “Better than Blessed” by Louise ‘Candy’ Davis playing on the car radio.
Davis was a successful gospel singer signed with the Malaco Music Group— her most popular album being Better Than Blessed.

The title track was co-written by Davis and Dr. L.C. Jones, her booking agent at the time. Upon its release, it spent 65 weeks on the Billboard Top Gospel chart, later becoming her signature song.

In the video, you see little Demetrius belting out the lyrics to Davis’ iconic track.
“I’m blessed, better than blessed,” the little boy sings passionately in a tiny toddler voice. The lyrics coupled with his adorable expressions instantly make everyone fall in love.

It looks like he and his grandmother sing this song often— at less than 2 years old, Demetrius seems to know all the words.

The song also has special meaning for the family.
It turns out Demetrius singing about being blessed is apter than you’d think. Apparently, while still in the womb, the young boy was diagnosed with a serious heart condition. The problem was so severe doctors suggested that his parents terminate the pregnancy— advice which they thoroughly refused.

At only 5 days old, Demetrius underwent open-heart surgery and has been healthy ever since. Now, his grandma calls him “Mister Better Than Blessed.”
As mentioned, Demetrius’ back seat, gospel performance immediately went viral when it was shared in 2016.

People couldn’t help but fall in love with his adorable expressions and impassioned performance:
“This had me crying because it’s the sweetest thing I have seen in a long time. Bless this little guy! He’s a happy baby.”
“You KNOW, Jesus was smiling while this baby was singing. Made me cry. Good for you parents for teaching this child young to Praise God at such a young age.”
“I LOVE HIM SO MUCH!! That’s how you raise a child! Love it!”

“We had no idea that so many would be blessed by him,” his grandmother wrote afterward.
“We are humbled and forever grateful for the caring and sharing from so many around the world.”
This past September, Demetrius turned 4 years old. In a Facebook post, his grandmother wrote: “Thank you God for this wonderful gift of life… Thank you to everyone who contributed to his confidence, every prayer, every word of encouragement, is very much appreciated.”
