He couldn’t have picked a better song. <3

There’s no shortage of toddlers singing sweet songs to their newborn siblings online, despite the sibling rivalry that might go on at other times.

New babies can seem like a threat to toddlers – especially if they’d been an only child prior to that.

A new baby in the family means less attention from mom and dad and the anxiety a child might develop is completely normal.

But no matter how wiggly and breakable and loud a baby might seem to their older sibling, toddlers are often fascinated by newborns as well and then often enjoy the responsibility of holding them. And they love being reminded that they were that small not long ago – it both fascinates them and helps them relate.

While most parents schedule and closely monitor the time spend between their toddlers and newborns, sometimes you need to do something as simple as a bathroom break or a bottle refill and as long as things seem secure, it’s generally ok.

We don’t know if the mom of these two little ones had walked away to find them being so sweet to one another or was simply getting up to record it all, but we do know that she caught a family video for the ages.

It’s made the rounds on multiple Facebook and YouTube accounts, often garnering upwards of 1 million views.

There’s nothing elaborate about it – it’s not even 1 minute long, but it’s about all the sweetness a person can handle.

In it, a big brother holds his new baby sister, dressed only in her tiny diaper. And looking straight at her, he serenades her with the song “You Are So Beautiful.”

The song was made famous when it was recorded by rock legend Joe Crocker in 1974, but it was released earlier that year by Billy Preston, who co-wrote it as an ode to his mother. In fact, it was never meant to be a romantic song.

Our singing kiddo knows he’s on video and is laying it on thick. But the entire effort is oh-so-sweet.

But our hearts just melt at seeing his baby sister bond with him.

She doesn’t break eye contact throughout. It’s like she knows she’s got it good and has a sibling she can count on.

And is that a great big smile we see on that babe?

It sure is!

Maybe she’s just grateful for his taste in music. It’s pretty clear this kid has some good musical role models in his parents. It’s would be a lot less cute if he was singing something like “Baby Shark” (and yeah, we know that’s from a few years later).

It’s great to sing to babies – and the best part is that you don’t have to be in tune!

It’s likely that babies can identify rhythms long before words, so singing is…well, music to their ears whereas everything else sounds like gobbledygook.

Singing can also help improve a baby’s awareness and attention and lead to closer bonding, no matter who does it (though the connection is strongest with parents).

It can even alter a baby’s mood, helping them stay calm, feed better, and fall asleep.

Maybe we should all be singing to babies more often!
