Adoption is one of the most incredible acts ever to exist. No matter the reason people choose to adopt a child, it’s the most loving, compassionate, and selfless thing to give them a life that may not otherwise exist.
Sometimes people are unable to conceive, sometimes people grew up in foster homes themselves, and sometimes people just want to give a home to a child that doesn’t have one. In the touching story you’re about to read, Matt and Katie Curtis sadly struggled with the first reason mentioned.
The young and healthy couple struggled for years to try and conceive a child of their own. Sadly, they were unable to do so. So, they decided the right choice for them was to start the adoption process.
To document their adoption process, Matt and Katie hired an Alabama-based videography company, Genesis Media Solutions, to film their journey. What they didn’t know, was that one of their most memorable moments was going to be caught on film. A moment that would change their lives forever.
It’s not the surprise at the end of the video that is amazing but learning about the emotional whirlwind of adoption is extremely eye-opening. The video, uploaded on YouTube, begins with the young couple talking about the fact that they might never become parents. Then, the film takes a turn when Matt receives a phone call that changes everything.
The phone call was the adoption agency letting them know that the moment they’ve been waiting for had arrived – a baby girl had just been born and the birth mother revoked her parental rights.
Not only was the baby brand new to the world, but she was also soon going to be on her way from Raleigh, North Carolina to Charlotte to join Matt and Katie’s family. Matt rushes to Katie’s off to tell her the exciting news as the camera crew films the entire thing.
“She was born already,” Matt tells Katie with excitement and tears in his eyes.
What’s so touching is that the couple was unsure if they would ever have a baby and, now, they were going to have one in their arms in a matter of days. Of course, the camera would be there to document their first meeting as well.
“I’m your dad!” Matt says when he holds his daughter Natalie for the very first time.
The emotional and life-changing moment is such a heart-warming thing to witness. What a wonderful idea for them to document the entire process. Now, they can look back and see how far they’ve come with their growing family and how much all that heartache and patience was worth it in the end.
