The bond is strong with these two adorable three-year-old cousins.
After months apart, two cousins lock eyes at the airport and an exuberant, giddy reunion ensues. The emotion and anticipation leading up to that moment made for a heart-warming scene. The two girls, Blue and Pearl, are not only cousins, but they are also best friends and that have practically grown up together.
Their moms are sisters who married twin brothers so Blue and Pearl are closer than half-sisters according to their DNA.
Both families live in the same apartment building in San Francisco, California, so the girls grew up together enjoying constant playdates, lots of giggles, and many of life’s milestones.
When Pearl and her family went abroad to visit family in Holland, her mom realized that this would be the longest the two cousins had ever been apart.
For two girls who spend so much time together, this separation would be difficult for both families. But each day the reunion got closer and closer for these two ‘cousin besties’ and after three long months apart, the day had arrived for the girls to finally reunite.
“It was longest they have ever been apart because we have all always lived next door to each other…We also felt guilty that we had kept them apart for three months and realized that this is a special bond.” – Blue’s mother Sophie told Happilynews.com
Blue and her family arrive at The San Francisco Airport on July 19 and get ready for the big moment.
With a homemade welcome home sign in hand, Blue stands patiently at the airport waiting for Pearl to appear.
“Blue had made a sign because she was so excited to see Pearl.” – Sophie told Happilynews.com
The girl’s faces light up and they run to each other.
There is something about reunions that grips us and this one is no different. The emotion and anticipation that linger in the air until the reunion takes place are hard to ignore.
The sweet moment is filmed from both perspectives.
Amandine, Pearl’s mother, filmed the entire reunion and Pearl’s reaction as she excitedly ran to find her cousin. Sophie captured the video on the other side of Blue holding her sign up and looking intently for her cousin.
The girls are overjoyed and hug each other repeatedly.
They even have a gift for one another. With friendship bracelet kits given to them by their grandmother, they made bracelets for each other. They happily exchange bracelets and are genuinely over the moon to be together again.
The families know how touching the moment is for their families but they also know the importance of sharing it with the world.
“We were emotional and so grateful that they have each other..I hope the video brings some joy into people’s lives – especially now during these difficult times…I hope it reminds people that we are all human and love can overcome anything.” – Sophie told Happilynews.com
