Winter brings a myriad of activities that people of all ages look forward to.
From baking cookies to the thrill of Christmas light rides, the season is filled with joy and excitement.
Even adults find delight in the simple pleasure of building a snowman, embracing the cold to create a winter wonder.
But in Buffalo, Minnesota, one dad has elevated this traditional pastime to an extraordinary level, becoming the talk of the neighborhood with his creation.
The story, as covered by FOX 9 Minneapolis-St. Paul, revolves around a family in Buffalo who decided to take their winter fun to new heights.
They embarked on an ambitious project to construct a snowman, not just any ordinary one, but a super-sized version of Frosty the Snowman.
This wasn’t a spur-of-the-moment decision but a well-thought-out plan to create something spectacular.
The snowman, standing at an impressive 30 feet tall and 20 feet wide, was a sight to behold.
It’s not just its size that’s remarkable, but also the attention to detail and the effort that went into its construction.
The family used snow from the entire neighborhood, piling it up and then using a snowblower to create one massive pile.
This was the foundation for their gigantic Frosty.
The construction of this colossal snowman was no small feat.
It required 40 hours of dedicated work spread over an entire weekend.
The family even built temporary stairs on the backside to place a 75-pound hat atop Frosty’s head.
The snowman was also adorned with large mittens, wooden eyes, and a traffic cone for a nose, bringing the character to life with a never-ending smile.
The creator, dad Eric Fobbe, explained that maintaining the snowman was an everyday task.
The upkeep involved constant additions of snow, especially when the weather got sunny or the temperature rose above 30 degrees.
This dedication to preserving their creation showed the family’s commitment to their unique winter project.
Interestingly, this wasn’t the first time the Phobe family built a giant snowman.
Their previous creations measured 12, 20, and 25 feet in height.
However, their 2023 snowman was not only the tallest, but also the widest they’ve ever made.
Seriously, it’s the size of a house!
Each year, their ambition grows, leading to more impressive and larger snow sculptures.
The impact of the giant snowman extended beyond the Fobbe family.
It became a community attraction, drawing people from all over Minnesota.
The joy it brought to visitors and the sense of community it fostered are what made this project even more special.
But was it the world’s largest snowperson?
Mr. Frosty Fobbe was quite an impressive snowman – but according to Guinness World Records, the tallest was actually a “snowwoman” in Bethel, Maine, and she was 122 feet tall!
In fact, she was so gigantic that they used truck tires for buttons and skis for eyelashes.
Even so though, it’s not every day you see a snowman as impressive as the Fobbes’!
