‘You Are My Sunshine’ is a very catchy song. In fact, it’s popular with both the younger and older generations. It seems that everybody knows the lyrics of the song, particularly the chorus.
A father and daughter decided to serenade mom with the popular song.
And they did an incredible job! They were so good that people on the internet loved their performance, too.
In the video, the 2-year-old girl was carrying a guitar that’s almost twice her size.
Even though it’s bigger than her, Liddy had no problems playing it. In fact, she looks like a pro. Her tiny hands were on the right spots. It seems that she’s been playing it for quite a while now.
She wasn’t wearing anything grand.
In fact, she’s just wearing a simple white dress. Even without a colorful outfit, she still looks very pretty.
Dad was guiding her all the way.
It’s clear that Cory Hollenhorst is an awesome guitar player. Although the song was easy to play, he made sure that he wasn’t going too fast for his little girl. He was strumming the guitar and singing the lyrics at her pace.
The pair’s stage was the screen porch of their new house.
Even though it’s bare, they were able to make the place look so much fun and lively.
At the end of the video, Corry and Liddy gave each other a high five.
They clearly deserve it since they’ve done an awesome job serenading mom. She was clearly happy with the duo’s performance.

Popularized by Charles Mitchell and Jimmie Davis, it’s considered one of the state songs of Louisiana. One of the reasons is its association with Jimmie Davis who served as one of the governors of the state.
The song has also been recorded by Bing Crosby, Wayne King, and Gene Autry. Aretha Franklin, The Beach Boys, and even Johnny Cash released their own versions, too.
Despite the song’s nice tune, it actually has a sad theme.
If you listen to the song closely, you’ll realize that it’s actually gloomy. There’s pain as the singer is trying to collect himself as he pays tribute to his former love. It’s like a desperate plea to that person who no longer feels the same way.
Because of its true meaning, some people wonder why others consider it a children’s song. It’s probably because of its tune. Plus, it’s easy to play, particularly with a ukelele. The lyrics are quite easy to memorize, too. Kids as young as Liddy have no problems memorizing the classic song and singing the lyrics by heart.
