Parents dread the day that their kids come to them for dating advice. It might not be today, it might not be tomorrow, but it will happen eventually.
They grow up so quickly, and in some families, the dating questions happen sooner rather than later.
That’s what a recent viral video between a dad and his son demonstrates.

The first thing we learn from the video is that dad is already regretting getting involved.
“Don’t tell your mom about this,” he jokes after his son tells him what happened.
Fathers and sons often have an unspoken pact about not telling Mom things.
She doesn’t need to know about everything. It’s especially true when it comes to dating advice between a father and son.
The dating advice that kids get from their mom versus from their dad might be a little bit different too.
The goofy line that the boy fed his girlfriend sounds like something that has been passed down from generation to generation in this family. We all have similar stories to tell involving funny ways of looking at love and relationships.
These are old folk wisdom sayings.
They might not be 100% true all of the time, however, they are often based in some sort of reality. Here are just a few common American folk sayings and English proverbs that we were able to find about dating.

There are plenty of proponents advocating for each side of the opposites attract debate. Yes, opposites often attract, but do they really make a good match?
Some would say it’s better to go for someone with who you have more in common with. However, that’s easier said than done though, and over time, we adapt to our partners, change, and grow together.
The line that the boy said to his girlfriend in the viral YouTube video is very similar to these classic proverbs about love.
You could tell that there was a younger mind at work as well. It’s something that only a kid could come up with.
The boy and his girlfriend had just had a fight. He came to his dad to let him know what had happened. He shared what he said in his and his girlfriend’s discussion.
“Hey, Dad! My girlfriend wants to work this out,” the boy explains. The dad asks his son what he told her and the boy’s hilarious response has his dad rolling over in laughter.
“Love is like a fart, if you have to force it, it’s probably just crap anyway.”
The best part about the video is definitely the dad’s reaction. As soon as he hears what his son said, he starts cracking up. He is not sure whether his 10-year-old son is a relationship expert, a comedic genius, or both.
