“I realized that bullying never has to do with you. It’s the bully who’s insecure.” – Shay Mitchell
This dad decided to teach his son a lesson.
The kid got kicked off his school bus for his actions and now he’s being taught a lesson the old fashioned way.
If he has dreams of enlisting, this is an early start.
Bryan Thornhill drives behind his son, Hayden, who is jogging to school in Roanoke, Virginia out in the rain.
It’s caused a fierce debate online (of course) but Bryan is sticking by his methods saying,
“He was being a little bully, which I do not tolerate. This right here is just old school, simple parenting.”
This morning run to school lasted a whole mile.
The next day, Bryan makes Hayden get in the car and tell everyone on video that he’s going to behave.
The kid does as he’s told. Those legs must be burning now.
Some critics called out Bryan for his tough love.
Bryan responded by saying that he will stand up for what he believes is right, whether it’s his kid or other kids are being bullied by his kid.
He’s going to stand up for everybody.
Hayden wasn’t allowed to ride the bus for three days after the incident.
He admitted to his actions saying,
“I was yelling, being really obnoxious, jumping from seat to seat.”
Now it really depends on which generation you grew up in and how discipline was taught.
The general consensus is to stand up to the person but to avoid fights as much as possible.
Then there are those who go by fight fire with fire. Naturally, the comments section were pretty divided as well.
Taylor S has 1.7k likes for this comment saying,
“It’s only the rain. It’s not going to kill him. I respect him, and the dad followed him the whole way.”
Ray Lamar echoed the same sentiments,
“I agree with the father. Those people who says it’s disgusting. They probably let their kids do whatever they want they don’t care. It’s nice to see a parent that actually cares enough about his child to punish him when he acts inappropriately.”
It’s not so bad when you think about it.
Other parents may have just grounded their kids or taken away privileges.
This is Bryan being a father, showing his son that actions merit consequences both good and bad.
If Hayden was a smart kid, I’m sure he is, he’d have learned his lesson.
Though this begs the question, what happened in the first place?
He’s still a kid and no one’s perfect.
As for dad’s methods, well, you be the judge.
“You can be a parent for 18 years and raise your children for 18 years. After that, you can be a friend for life.”
Says Thornhill
