There are many things that we can take away from this pandemic. One of them is how important relationships are, specifically the ones with our family.
Now, more than ever, is the perfect time to reach out to those you love and let them know how much they mean to you. Whether it’s a phone call or text, the act alone is worth a thousand words.
But through it all, there are many people who are taking the time to keep themselves active and creative. While some find it difficult to get their creative and fun juices flowing during this time, others are thriving.
For example, one family took some items that they had in their house and turned their sliding patio door into beautiful stained glass. Another family built their dog, Rusty, his own under-the-staircase dog house, complete with all of the bells and whistles of a regular house.
Just don’t tell Harry Potter.
But there are some families who are keeping things a little more traditional. For instance, some are simply taking to singing and dancing to lift their spirits. More specifically, there have been several videos of fathers spending quality time with their daughters.
Take daddy-daughter duo, Mat and Savanna Shaw from Utah, who are steadily cranking out duets. Since their debut, they have created quite a following. The two utilize their pitch-perfect voices to bring beautiful music to those stuck at home.
While those two seem to have the singing aspect of quarantine taken care of, another daddy-daughter duo are attempting to take care of the dancing side of things.
Let’s just say these two sure know how to have a ton of fun. When you see them busting their moves, you’d be hard-pressed not to crack a smile.
Shot from the comfort of their home, Chris Starkey, 51, and his daughter, Brooklyn, engage in friendly dance battles. The musician of choice for this round? None other than the “Godfather of Soul,” James Brown.
The caption indicates that they are on round four of their dance competition and if you haven’t seen any of their others yet, we can’t recommend them enough! The banter between them is pretty hilarious.
Dancing to Brown’s, “I Got You (I Feel Good),” this particular video starts off with Chris introducing James Brown and his daughter asking who he is and if he is alive.
“No,” he says.
But he quickly follows up the somber answer with, “But I’m alive!”
After, Chris grabs his prom jacket from the 1980s just before starting the routine. Even so, the duo wastes no time in getting into the groove of things.
Needless to say, these two know how to cut a rug! The best part is that they seem to build off each other’s energy. The father yelps in excitement while Brooklyn mimics Michael Jackson’s famous, “Yee-hee.”
Seriously, these two are having a blast!
Chris keeps things sporadic and fun which only causes Brooklyn, and the woman recording, to laugh. About halfway through, they break off into a bit of a freestyle. But before we know it, they’re reunited and back in unison.
Just when you think it can’t get any better, Chris playfully pushes Brooklyn out of frame so he can shine. But it’s not long before Brooklyn is back, now sporting a jacket just like her father’s.
To end, Brooklyn jumps into the air and lands in a split! No doubt, this is one fun and talented family!
