No parent is safe from the dreaded toddler meltdown.
They are inevitable and faithfully lurking around every corner of parenthood waiting to make mom or dad’s life as unpredictably amazing as possible.
We get through the harder moments of parenting by focusing on the blissful ones like when those precious bundles are quiet or asleep or quietly asleep. *wink wink*
Aww…. this is why we became parents right?!
But no matter how much we loathe the thought of a tantrum…how could we ever live without these little gems of childrearing? Let’s face it, it’s a right of passage, and the way you handle it can leave you feeling cool as a cucumber or more frustrated than your little angry cherub.
Yes, it is so hard to maintain cucumber status in the midst of a blowup of toddler proportions. But one dad might get the award for being the calmest in his clan.
Canadian father of adorable 2-year-old Juliette made it look so easy and had us all laughing at the same time.
After picking Juliette up from school, her dad started to head in with the groceries. Well, it soon became clear to dad that she was not having any of it and was refusing to walk.
Commence meltdown…3..2..1..
The little girl had made up her mind and there would be no walking today. She flopped down on the driveway like a cute, strong-willed starfish. There would be no persuading her at this moment.
All her dad could do was grab the groceries and make his next move. Would he handle it with grace or become agitated himself?
A viral video proves that nothing phases this cool papa
Not giving any extra attention to his daughter, he grabs his groceries with one hand and his daughter’s coat with the other and effortlessly lifts her up like a suitcase. Before she realizes what’s happening, her dad has whisked her into the house where she can continue her tantrum. Go, dad!
Juliette’s mother watched from the window of their house and filmed the priceless video. All she could do was giggle.
“I took this video from home of my boyfriend and our daughter, Juliette, who turned 2-years-old in October,” she told Viralhog. He was getting back from work and her from the kindergarten. She is a little girl who loves to laugh and make other laughs.”
“What’s even funnier is that she is more than 3-feet-tall and over 37 pounds heavy and the jacket didn’t break. She often does stuff like this and this is just how we love her.”
We are always juggling as parents and our kids test us at the most inconvenient times.
So when we see Juliette’s dad just taking care of things in a way that works and makes us laugh, we can’t help but be inspired.
Remember this…one day your kids may have children of their own who will have tantrums of their own. You will be able to sit down, relax and watch the show. Until then, all we can hope to do is enjoy the wonderful, fleeting moments and aspire to be the cucumber when those moments aren’t so wonderful.
