Ever noticed how musical talent seems to be one of those things that runs in the family? The music world is filled with examples of fathers, mothers, sons, daughters, and siblings who all seem to share an amazing ability to sing, dance, and play all kinds of instruments.
From The Jackson 5 to The Bee Gees, The Corrs, The Osmonds, and The Beach Boys, we’ve seen so many great family connections across a range of genres.
And now, here’s another awesome example of musical aptitude being shared out among multiple members of the same family. Introducing Martin Pyrker and his daughter, Sabine.
Martin and Sabine come from Austria, and over there, Martin is quite a big deal! First discovering his passion for blues and piano music back when he was just 17, he has gone on to enjoy a fabulous career in the blues and boogie woogie scene.
He’s performed with a range of other artists, both from Austria and other nations, and become well-known in his homeland as one of the pioneers of boogie woogie music in Europe.
Martin has spent decades on stage, performing for legions of adoring fans and releasing various records over the years as well, but now, it seems that his very own daughter might be ready to follow in his footsteps!
Naturally, being born to such a music-loving father meant that Sabine was exposed to boogie woogie tunes from an early age and quickly developed a love of the genre herself.
She took piano lessons from the age of seven and started learning percussion at the age of nine, developing a fondness for the drums, as well as the vibraphone, marimba, and timpani.
Sabine gave her first ever public performance at the age of just 13, accompanying her father on stage, and since then, she’s performed internationally plenty of times while also pursuing studies in economics. Wow, what a talented young lady!
Well, this wonderful video shows us exactly how talented both Martin and Sabine really are, as the pair took to the stage to perform a boogie woogie show, side by side. Martin played piano for the song, while Sabine took a seat behind the drums.
Together, they’re simply incredible, with Martin’s smooth piano skills blending so well with Sabine’s sense of rhythm and tireless percussion play.
They really capture the fun essence of the boogie woogie genre, and we can’t help bopping our heads along as they play!
Arguably the highlight of the video comes when Sabine gets her moment in the spotlight and pulls off a simply outrageous drum solo about halfway through the song.
As a master musician himself, Martin must be so proud of his daughter, and it’s inspiring to see a father and his girl sharing the stage in such a special way.
