Parents time a lot of time and consideration in planning the birth of their children.

Not only do they have to get the nursery ready, throw a baby shower, and buy all the things the baby will need, but you also have to figure out where you’re going to give birth.

Some people choose to give birth at hospitals, some people choose to give birth at home or birthing centers.

However, no one ever plans to give birth while standing in a parking lot.

But that’s exactly where Susan Anderson of Coral Springs, Florida ended up giving birth.

Having their baby at a birthing center was Susan and her husband Joseph Anderson’s original plan.

And they were so close to making it.

So, close!

They were actually on their way to Natural Birth Works birthing center in Margate and even reached their destination.

The couple just didn’t make it through the front door.

“During the car ride to the birth center, I turned to my husband, and I was like, ‘I need to push!” Susan told Local 10.com. “I didn’t think I wouldn’t make it into the building.”

The birth ended up being caught on the center’s surveillance video.

“By the time we got to the first step the head was coming,” Susan recalls.

Even though she gave birth in a parking lot, she was still able to be aided by a midwife.

Midwife Sandra Lovaina was in place to grab newborn baby Julia when she quickly slid out of the side of her mom’s shorts.

This speedy delivery was quite a surprise to the center’s staff.

“She had been our client before. We’ve done her other delivery, and round two was just a lot faster,” said midwife Gelena Hinkley. “No one was expecting it to be that fast.”

Susan had originally opted for a water birth rather than a in the parking lot through the shorts birth.

However, the baby decided to opt for a more exciting birth experience as opposed to a relaxing one.

“That was my focus, just getting inside to the birthing tub, but she had other ideas,” Susan Anderson said.

The video is quite an extraordinary thing to watch.

You see Susan trying to step make her way to the door but is leaning over at the sidewalk in between two cars in the parking lot.

“She’s OK, I’m the midwife. She’s here to have the baby,” Sandra explains to one of two officers walking up to make sure everything is OK as she crouches down behind Susan.

Within a few seconds, Susan lets out two screams and her baby pops right out.

Sandra casually catches the baby, flips it over, and hands it to her parents.

One of the officers put her hand to her mouth in amazement. The other officer again offers his assistance, but Sandra is perfectly calm and has everything under control.

“That’s OK, she’s here to have a baby. She just didn’t make it inside,” Sandra responds.

Everyone is pretty astonished.

“That was amazing!” says the female officers.

Sandra thanks the officers as she slowly walks the couple and the new baby inside.

Another midwife runs up to the door and realizes that she just missed the birth.

“Unfreakingbelievable!” she says.
