As the famous comedian Jim Gaffigan said about having his fourth baby:
“You know what it’s like having a fourth kid? Imagine you’re drowning, then someone hands you a baby.”
Having four kids can be REALLY tough – how about fourteen?
The Schwandt family has quite the talent (and apparently free time).
The Schwandt family is 16 strong as of late. You have the mom and dad, of course, but the other 14? All of them are boys.
While having a family of 16 is enough to get you on the local news, Fox 17 covered the story because the boy-train was finally at an end.
That’s right! After years of boy after boy after boy, the Schwandt family finally got the girl they were looking for. Maggie, the little girl, popped into the world at 7 lbs 8 oz and has already captured the hearts of all the boys in the family.
To make matters even more celebratory, the Schwandt family never finds out the gender before birth!
With today’s technology, you can find out the biological sex of your baby as early as 14 weeks! A quick ultrasound, and you can see what color to paint your new baby room. The Schwandt family, however, doesn’t like to do things that way – they wait for the surprise of each and every one of their kids!
When little Maggie made her entrance into the world, the entire family was elated.
Her mom said:
“I’m just excited to incorporate some pink into the house”
We can imagine! There have doubtless been countless holes and accidents all around the house with so many boys. Maybe Maggie can bring some much-needed gentleness to such a boy-heavy household!
“I didn’t believe it. You know, there was disbelief there, but I am still trying to process.”
When news of the baby girl hit the family, they were ready to throw a party! Since the pandemic is still in full swing, the family wasn’t able to meet her at the hospital. Instead of meeting her there, they decided to have a get-together at their home instead.
Living life with so many boys, they will have to change some aspect of how they live!
When Dad described their home, he used words like “fraternity house” and “locker room”! He said:
“This house would have to change… we don’t want our little princess in a frat house or a locker room! We’ve got some lifestyle changes to make collectively”
Just think about when Maggie is ready to date!
Talk about an intimidating dinner! For most teenage girls with older brothers, the prospective boy needs to go through the gauntlet before he’s even allowed to ask her out. For the Schwandt family, the 14-level trial-by-fire that is asking Maggie out might just prove too intimidating for some boys.
All jokes aside, you can see just how much they all care for each other.
