These twins know how to make an entrance!
Newborn twins, Alfredo and Aylin, have already mastered the ability to shock their parents. Fatima Madrigal and Robert Trujillo, from Greenfield, California, never expected that their twins would be born on different days, different months, and in different years! But that’s just what happened. Oh boy…and girl!
Alfredo was born in December 2021.
Clearly, Alfredo will always want to be first in life and we are in awe of his tenacity and persistence. Not wanting to miss out on ANY of the New Year festivities, Alfredo came into the world at 11:45 pm on Friday, December 31st. Future New Year Eve party planner? We think yes.
Aylin was born on January 1, 2022.
Little Aylin wasn’t quite ready to join her brother and waited another year to enter the world. She was born at exactly midnight on Saturday, January 1, 2022. There is nothing wrong with taking your time, little lady. Aylin will most likely be stopping and smelling all the roses whenever the opportunity arises.
“Crazy!”
When asked what she thought of her twins having completely different birthdays, Fatima told the hospital, “It’s crazy to me that they are twins and have different birthdays. I was surprised and happy that she arrived at midnight.” The twins were born at Natividad Medical Center in California.
These fraternal twins won’t ever share the same birthday.
Sharing a birthday is something that is a given when it comes to twins. Most twins might not mind sharing their special day but there might be some that would love to have a day all their own. For Alfredo and Aylin, they will always have their own birthday day to celebrate. Excellent planning kiddos.
The family was excited to welcome the twins.
Little Alfredo and Aylin joined their two older sisters and older brother at home. Fatima said her children were excited to meet the pair. Her son was very happy at the thought of finally having a brother. It’s a good thing that mom has some help to chase down the twins once they become more mobile.

The hospital staff won’t forget this delivery anytime soon.
It is very rare for twins to have different birthdays. The staff at Natividad Medical Center was overjoyed by the opportunity to help these special babies enter the world. “This was definitely one of the most memorable deliveries of my career.” – Dr. Ana Abril Arias, a doctor at Natividad Medical Center.

What is rarer than a twin? Twins with different birthdays.
According to the CDC, there are a little over 120,000 twin births each year in the US. That is only 3 percent of all births. – cdc.gov However, the chances of giving birth to twins in different years is 1 in 2 million. There is a 100% chance, however, of these two siblings making the world a little bit more interesting.
