When you ask a dog lover what it is about canines they like so much, one of the things they immediately gush about is loyalty.

Dogs, regardless of breed, have sharp instincts that enable them to protect their families without hesitation. They’re great company because they won’t ever leave your side. In fact, if you notice, movies about dogs almost always feature scenes where dogs wait around patiently for their pet parents to return. Remember Hachikō?

The Japanese Akita’s heartbreaking story perfectly sums up how loyal dogs can be.

That’s why they’re so lovable.

With impressive traits like being kid friendly, affectionate, trainable, gentle, and reliable, it’s no wonder dogs very easily warm hearts and almost effortlessly work their way into any family.

And because dogs are so sweet and innocent, it comes as no surprise that tiny humans as adorable and irresistible are drawn to them, too.

You’ve seen heartwarming photos of large, gentle dogs “babysitting” little kids. And you’ve definitely watched videos and read stories on how kids as young as one years old share a special bond with their pet dogs.

These loving relationships are worth looking out for, just like this little girl who would sing to her puppy as she rocks it to sleep.

Four-year-old Marleigh is a doting sister to Fiona, the Boxer.

Paige Jolley Bumgarner, the little girl’s mom, knows this so well that she knew exactly which moment to record and share.

In the video, you can see Marleigh holding Fiona in her arms. The dog, sleeping peacefully, looks perfectly content as Marleigh rocks it gently back and forth while humming softly.

“Jesus loves me, this I know,
For the Bible tells me so
Little ones to him belong,
They are weak, but he is strong.”

As she sings “Jesus Loves Me” softly, the dog doesn’t budge and continues to sleep contentedly.

Watching the video will give you the impression that Marleigh is being raised to be gentle, loving, and responsible, even to pets.

And the little girl knows it and is mighty proud of it. During the precious moment, she glances at her mom and says, “I’m a good sister, mama!”

And her mom knows just what to say.

“You’re the best,” Paige responds simply.

If you think the singing and rocking are endearing enough, wait until you see how well Marleigh can put Fiona back to sleep. At one point, the little girl let out a couple of sneezes. This wakes the dog, who slowly raises its head. And what did Marleigh do?

She began singing the hymn again and in just a few seconds, Fiona was fast asleep.

How incredible is that? We can all definitely do well to learn from Marleigh’s example. See how she rewards Fiona’s love and loyalty.

Dogs are loving companions that deserve just as much respect and care.

That’s why Fiona is extremely lucky to have someone like Marleigh.

Watch the video and enjoy the precious sight of a little girl singing her dog to sleep.
