Grandma Dances The Whip And Nae Nae With Her Family
Being a good grandma is a hard job. Sometimes it means doing the whip and the nae nae with your relatives!

To be a good grandparent, you have to be ready to get your hands dirty when it comes to your grandchildren. It’s well known that grandparents are there to spoil their grandkids however possible. Sometimes, that means taking them to shows or getting them candy even when their parents say no. Other times, it means playing with your grandkids—even if you can’t necessarily relate to whatever the game is.

That was the case for one video in particular.

The clip was uploaded to YouTube by user Becca Trimble and represents a growing genre online.

That genre, of course, is grandmas dancing to popular songs of the day. In this clip, Grandma lines up in a row with her granddaughter Sianna and her daughter-in-law, Rebecca (and yes, your grandparental duties continue even when your relatives are borderline adults). The trio are lined up with their backs to the camera before “Watch Me” by Silento starts playing. Once the chorus starts, the three turn around and start their routine.

Those who recognize the song will surely recognize the dance moves in this clip.

As it begins, Grandma Jones does the whip along with Sianna and Rebecca before they set off into their own version of the choreography. The three of them do the whip, the nae nae and every other dance instruction throughout the song. Although Sianna and Rebecca seem to know the source material a little better than Jones does everyone gives it their all—and the three of them clearly put a significant amount of practice into their presentation. Still, Grandma Jones mostly steals the show here by hanging in there with the other two girls.

So far the video has more than a quarter of a million views on YouTube—though that number is sure to grow in the coming days.

Though the commenters have a wide range of takes and criticisms of the trio’s performance, we have to tip our hats to Grandma Jones for being so engaged and enthusiastic. As we get older, it’s easy to get stuck in our ways and to be resistant to doing new things. When Rebecca and Sianna asked their grandma to do some dance choreography with them (and put it on YouTube, no less), she said yes and gave the performance her all. Above all else, that’s something worth celebrating.

You go, Grandma Jones!
