Becoming a mom always draws attention from the whole family. Before you know it, you’ll be keeping everyone posted on your ultrasounds, diet, checkups and everything of the sort. Everyone wants to know how the baby is doing, and it’s hard to blame them.
When Anna Williams found out she was pregnant, she followed this same procedure. Well, kind of. She did tell them she was expecting, and did keep them posted. But there was another thing that she felt was best kept under wraps for a while.
See, Anna was having twin girls. That’s pretty big news, even just reading it. Some of her family were expecting a baby boy, for reasons.
You know how it is. Family members always have little, personal feelings or details that they think will predict a boy or a girl. But definitely not in Anna’s case.
Given all of that, she felt like she knew the reactions that twin baby girls would get. Better to surprise them, she thought. Of course, her husband knew too. Now the challenge is how exactly to keep such a thing a secret.
I can only guess and speculate how Anna kept things hush for 9 whole months, but the payoff was worth it as this video is about to show.
Her mom, now also her kids’ grandmother, came to the hospital to see the new baby girl.
Holding a baby for the first time is always a precious moment. With her granddaughter in her arms, Anna’s mom instantly melts and can’t take her eyes off her granddaughter.
When a baby enters a family, all you can do is think of everything you plan to do with them as they grow older. Make their bed, feed them, teach them the alphabet, take them on walks. Grandma probably had a ton of these thoughts racing through her mind too.
And it’s time to double those future walks, visits and play sessions as she’s about to find out.
It was time for the surprise, and Anna knew it. The nurse has the other baby girl in a cart, and was Anna’s helper in unveiling the surprise. Carefully, she brings the 2nd baby girl into the room, and Anna starts waiting for her mom to notice.
Though grandma is so fixated and in love with her new granddaughter that it takes more than a few seconds till she realizes that she has a second one!
When she does though, the previously emotional grandma is now even more emotional.
Nearly to the point of shock and disbelief. She has two granddaughters!
Anna had to call out to her and point things out. When grandma looks up and sees baby girl number 2, her eyes widen and all she can let out is a big, disbelieving “What?!”. It’s all waterworks from there. Anna’s surprise paid off.
“How did you keep that a secret?!” – her mom asks
But she’s not done. She has way more family members to tell, so the next order of business was a series of video calls.
So she video calls their grandpa, aka her dad, next. She shows him baby number 1 in a red cap, to which he guesses that it must be a boy. He even had a bet with Anna’s mother on it being a boy. Anna informs him that it’s in fact, a girl.
Well, dad, you lost the bet. So whatever you bet on, you better pay it twice.
Anna wanted to be a little more clever with this reveal. Holding baby girl number 1, she first tells her dad “Mom’s here too”, and has her mom casually move into the camera with the 2nd baby girl.
“Who’s that?” – Grandpa asks
“They’re twins!”, mom and daughter tell him. Anna’s dad is ecstatic and takes a moment or two to process things.
“That’s incredible!”, he says. The pauses between words as he talks only highlighting the disbelief even more, but who can blame him?
“Oh my goodness, how could you keep that a secret?!”
Same, grandpa. Same. Now she’s about to let their other relatives feel the same shock that her parents did. One by one, the video calls start and end with the surprise reveal. She kept it a secret for 9 months, she deserves to have all the fun with it as she wants.
And with how precious the twins look, it was well worth the secrecy if you ask me.
