On November 2, 2017, Tim Bobbitt revealed a sweet surprise to his stepdaughter Kylee – one that brought tears of joy to the little girl’s eyes.
When Tim met his now-wife Annie, she was a single mother to Kylee. But as the couple continued dating, the entire family grew closer and Tim refers to his step-daughter as his “little buddy,” someone he loves dearly and who is always there for him.
On the day Tim and Annie got married, Kylee stood at the altar between the two and read an emotional letter in front of their guests asking Tom to officially adopt her.
And of course he would – but these things take time.
In 2017, Tim posted a video on YouTube stating that the day had finally arrived and he shared footage from the emotional moment when he became Kylee’s legal father. It’s now been viewed over 5.8 million times since then and many commenters couldn’t help but share how overwhelming they found the video.
“I am a 36 yo strong, big guy and you made me cry, folks,” said one YouTuber.
Tim wanted the moment at which he informed Kylee about the official adoption to be a special one, so he scheduled a photo shoot for her.
As the young girl poses for pictures, Tim steps into the frame, opening a folder with a letter inside. He takes her hands and begins to read it, recalling the moment he met her and how he didn’t realize the ways in which she would change his life.
Kylee remembered that day too as her dad tells her about all of the subsequent moments he found so special – goofing around, carrying her to bed at night, playing tag, getting sushi, and playing video games together.
While Kylee looks to be at an age when parents are generally thought to be embarrassing, especially when they get emotional (and Tim is tearing up as he reads), Kylee looks like she’s truly enjoying the moment as she helps him hold his letter in place as the wind blows on both of them.
As he anticipates all the beautiful moments he’ll get to see in the future, he says that the one he’s most looking forward to is walking her down the aisle one day at her wedding, “because that’s what fathers do.”
“And the reason why I can say that is because today…is the day I get to adopt you,” he reveals.
When the pre-teen finds out that this is no regular photoshoot but a surprise reveal, she’s taken aback. She puts her hand over her mouth in surprise as she realizes Tim is now “officially” her dad – something that she had been wanting for a while.
As the two share an emotional hug and Kylee cries on Tim’s shoulder, the camera pans around to show a group of people walking towards them – it’s their family and friends.
The proud father gives his daughter a beautiful ring as a token of affection and then asks her to turn around.
Giggles ring out from the group as Kylee rushes towards the loved ones who have gathered to help them celebrate their special moment.
It’s a sweet tear-jerker and everyone seems thrilled and overwhelmed at the same time.
