Ever experienced such joy and excitement in a certain place that leaving it triggers your frustration? The term “happy place” is often used to describe people who bring us comfort and security. But sometimes, it can mean literally just that: a happy place. Like a cabin in the woods, a spot near the ocean, a quaint cafe… It’s different for everyone.
Even dogs.
Dogs are generally happy creatures brimming with so much love that it can be hard to imagine them feeling disappointed at having to leave a certain place.
Apparently, like toddlers (and, well, some grownups), dogs throw tantrums, too.
Dakota the Siberian Husky is quite the expert in this field.
Dakota just loves the park. He’s generally always in high spirits when playing in his happy place but when it’s time to head home, oh, boy.
The dog will definitely switch to full on fuss mode.
You can tell from his parent’s reaction that this is something the dog does often. The dramatic Husky sure can be a handful!
Dramatically lying on the grass sideways, Dakota refuses to cooperate and ignores his dad’s coaxing.
Even when there’s already a leash on, the dog still won’t give up and trot home.
Dakota’s mom can be heard saying, “Come on, bud.”
So what does the dog do?
Roll around the grass some more and let out what actually sounds like a, “Noooo!”
“We’re done. It’s time to go. Come on. We’re not gonna do this again.”
Despite mom’s firm tone, Dakota stays on his spot, still lying on his back.
A little help, dad?
Instead of chiming in with an equally commanding tone to get the dog to stand up, dad continues laughing at Dakota’s antics.
Seriously, dad?
With paws in the air, the defiant Husky continues. “Noooo!”
Mom is unrelenting. “Kota, come on. You’re embarrassing yourself. And us.”
And because dad seems to be such a softie when it comes to their pet, he takes on a different approach.
Whispering “C’mon” to Dakota occasionally, coupled with affectionate scratches, dad tries to lift the dog.
Dakota’s protests now include a few kicks on dad’s leg. Now that’s what we call having someone wrapped around your, uhm, paws.
Well, Huskies are known for being mischievous. It’s one of their many disarming traits, actually. Loyal and friendly with quite a few tricks up their sleeve, Siberian Huskies are not for the weak.
Luckily for Dakota, he has incredibly patient parents who love him in spite of all his tantrums.
The tantrum keeps up until finally, dad scoops up the dog and carries it like a baby all the way to the car. Dakota probably gave his parents an earful during the car ride home, but it’s the entertaining sulking that earned him over 3.4 million views!
He may give his parents a hard time whenever it’s time to go home but they love him so much that they’re willing to put up with it every single time they go to the park.
What a lucky, spoiled dog Dakota is.
