Kids love candies. Research suggests that it’s basic biology. It’s not an effect of advertising or modern-day technology. However, some people think otherwise.
Even though there are differences in views, there’s no denying how kids love their sweet treats. In fact, if you steal a piece of candy from a child, he’ll likely end up crying and shouting all day.
Knowing this, Jilliann Grouse wanted to see how her precious son would react if she told him she “ate” all his candies.
The mom planned everything. She even had her phone camera rolling before went to talk to Rutledge.
She began her narrative:
“So, you know how I put you to bed last night. Well, I got really hungry, and I ate all of your candy.”
Jilliann waited for her kid’s reaction.
However, instead of getting mad and crying, the boy smiled. He didn’t believe her mom’s words.
The boy said:
“You’re just joking. You didn’t eat all of my candy.”
The mom insisted that she did.
She even told him that her hunger was so bad. She didn’t have any other food to eat so she ate the candies.
At this point, the kid realized that her mom’s not joking.
He went to the refrigerator and opened it. Pointing inside, he suggested that there were other food items she could eat from there.
Jullian couldn’t think of anything else to say.
She simply apologized for what happened and told the kid that she was just really hungry. She had no other choice.
After saying sorry, the boy comforted his mom.
“I’m not mad at you. It’s okay,” he said.
He’s smiling as he said those words. It shows how he really didn’t mind losing his candies as long as his mom’s not hungry.
The kid’s adorable video easily went viral.
In fact, it has been viewed more than 9 million times. Most of the people who have seen it were quite impressed with his patience and manners.
One of the viewers said:
“You can tell this kid has high intelligence. It’s rare for a child at 3 to be able to show alternative solutions (the fridge) and this level of compassion and forgiveness. It’s evident he’s quite exceptional.”
Another viewer commented:
“What a sweet and wise boy! He knows his parents’ tendency towards deception, because his first response (though a glimpse of disappointment crossed his face) was: “You’re just joking”. Then, he showed concern for his caregiver’s hunger and suggested alternatives to stealing candy. But when he saw that they persisted in their lie, he humbly forgave them and reassured them that he would not suffer as a result of their abuse.”
A YouTube user was impressed by how the kid offered other options. He said:
“Damn that’s a good little dude right there and he’s also way above average in intelligence… Recognizing it was likely a joke. His mom wouldn’t do that. And also pointing out other options for food. Good egg for sure.”
The boy’s reaction is different than most kids. He’s shown great understanding and that’s what makes his parents more grateful for having him.
