Amazon’s Ring doorbells have been at the center of many a controversy, from privacy to security concerns.

But many of those willing to install one have been the subjects of Ring’s wildly successful video campaign showing off all of the wholesome moments caught on video.

From savvy pets trying to get back into the house to sweet kids saying hello, owners have used these devices to record and check video feeds from far and wide (as well as right inside their homes).

Free messaging

Two kids managed to use their Ring doorbell to check in with the deployed dad as often as possible. And (presumably after getting permission) the company spliced the footage together into a 1-minute video that has been viewed well over 1 million times since it was uploaded in November of 2020.

What can we say – we’re suckers for sweet messages to our troops!

While they aren’t named, the young boy and girl both appear to be pre-teens and the company respected their privacy by withholding any identifying information (except for the background footage).

They did, however, share their sweet messages to dad.

Hello from afar

As the kiddos come home from school, they greet dad before heading into the house.

“Hi daddy, I miss you…SO MUCH.” says his little girl.

And big brother misses him too.

“I want to see you soon, daddy,” he pleads.

Of course, it’s hard for kids to understand the sacrifices that military parents make for their country.

“Please, I really want you to come back,” says his little buddy all decked out in a Superman shirt.

We can only imagine how hard it would be to see that from so far away.

Missing moments

As it turns out, dad missed a few milestones while he was away, despite his clever way of seeing what his kids are up to.

“Hi dad, I got a new haircut,” his son proudly announced one day.

He also got to see the kid’s come home on his daughter’s birthday. And while he wasn’t there to share the cake, he was able to see how happy she was in her birthday tiara.

And at this point, commenters started getting emotional.

“I’m not crying your crying,” said many a viewer.

Big news

Of course, the biggest news had most viewers claiming that someone was cutting onions nearby.

“Dad, I graduate from riding my bike now. All I need for help is to push then I’m all going by myself, With no training wheels, dad! How cool is that?!”

His little boy learned to ride a big boy bike all by himself – and he’s really hoping dad is proud.

“I cried when he said he didn’t need training wheels no more this is so wholesome,” said a commenter.

And it really was the breaking point for many viewers, including us:

“All of those got me but the one where the son was telling him that he graduated from bike riding…that one got me. Even if the dad was not there to experience it, he was still notified.”

We can only imagine being so far away, wishing you could congratulate your kid on their big day.

All we can do is be grateful for his service and for his family for sending him lots of love so he can keep doing his job until it’s time to come home.
