When it comes to same-sex couples, having a child while married does not automatically mean that the child is considered to have the two spouses as their parents.

The birth mother is considered a legal parent automatically, but still, in some states, when it comes to the US, a same-sex couple needs to make sure to have a court judgment saying that they are parents.

So, in order to be able to move from state to state without a problem, it might be a good idea to make sure to adopt the child even if they were born in the marriage.

Just like what happened in the case of Jennifer and Kim Hubby from New Mexico.

Kim and Jennifer have been married for several years, and their 5-year-old boy was born in the marriage.

However, their being a same-sex couple caused some legal issues.

While Kim, as the birth mother of little Cameron, was a legal parent of the child, Jennifer was a stepparent.

Although she was planning on adopting the baby from the beginning, what held her back was the cost of the long adoption process that was ahead of them.

The family sat down and discussed their options, and, after a few years, when they could afford the whole thing, and when they were emotionally ready for the lengthy procedure, they moved forward with Jennifer adopting Cameron.

By then, the 5-year-old called his birth mom, Kim, “mom”, while he addressed Jennifer “mama”.

The three of them have a sweet and loving relationship, and they just couldn’t wait to officially be a family in the eyes of the law.

In October, the adoption papers were finally ready to sign and the adoption was ready to be finalized in a New Mexico courtroom.

Everything was pretty much finished, and the judge was ready to give them the papers to sign, but she had to ask them if they had to add something.

“The judge asked if we had anything to state for the record, and that’s when we turned the camera on and I said a little something that was really not moving at all,” mama Jennifer told Good Morning America.

But, just when they thought they were done, little Cameron whispered to her if it was okay for him to say something really quick.

Indeed, he went on to share his feelings about his mother, and his words made everyone’s eyes well up.

“I wanted to say that I love my mom so much and that’s she the best mom I ever had,” he told the judge.

When he realized that Jennifer was getting emotional, he turned to her and gave her a big hug.

The judge also had something to tell him. She said it is important to tell people you love them and that he’s a lucky guy.

It was a truly heartwarming moment.
