What’s cuter than a little girl with big bright eyes and an angelic face? How about a little girl who scolds her dad for doing something that she doesn’t think is appropriate? You know, kids pay far more attention to what parents say then believed. Of course, just because they hear every word doesn’t mean they always do as they’re told.
But kids have a way of stockpiling our favorite quotes and then using them against us. Just count the number of times you’ve said, “How many times have I told you to close the refrigerator after getting something out?” What about, “How many times have I told you to pick up your toys when you’re done playing with them.” Sound familiar?
One little girl used that same quote, “How many times…” to remind her dad of something he did wrong, and it’s hysterically sweet.
In a video that’s now been viewed more than three million times, you see this adorable little girl come into frame. From the very beginning, you can’t help but laugh and say “awe” at the same time. She has such a serious look on her face that you know she has something important to say.
Using her best kid words, she lectures her dad and it’s brilliant.
Being completely serious, she says to her dad, “How many times have I told you when you put the side up and I tell you to put it down for me when I go pee pee.” Translation…put the toilet seat down after using it. Somehow, the way she phrases has more of an impact.
But she’s not finished with the scolding just yet.
She goes on to ask her dad, “Why do you keep doing that.” In response, he tells her all she has to do is put the toilet seat down. That wasn’t a good enough response. Staying in charge, she continues, “But I don’t want to” while making a little hand gesture to emphasize her point. Oh, it gets even better.
She’s definitely not liking the direction that her dad’s taking.
“I just want you to do it when you go to do it for you.” Her dad is finally starting to get the message. “Oh, so you want me to lift it up and put it down,” he says. He continues, “And you don’t want to do anything.” You can tell she’s taking this conversation very seriously.
She now has a more serious tone.
“Daddy, listen to me. When you’re done with the potty, you’ve got to put it down for when big girls go in and they need to go tee tee…or poo poo.” Oh my gosh Dad, are you not understanding your daughter’s message? I think it’s perfectly clear. Maybe he is when he says, “Oh, oh, I get it.”
She gives him one last reminder.
With the sweetest expression on her face, she tells her dad, “So, you’ve got to put it down for the girls.” If someone’s going to lecture you about an important topic, this is the way you want it done. This precious little girl gets right to the point. And she delivers the message with poise far beyond her age.
