Every woman’s pregnancy journey is unique.
We might find some similarities with other mothers. However, at times, the joy and struggle we go through throughout pregnancy could differ.
But the ultimate joy is when they finally enter the world.
However, it’s not the same for those mothers who lost their babies.
Miscarriages are one of the most heartbreaking experiences when it comes to pregnancy.
That excitement of finally having a child you prayed for only to know a few weeks or months later that you lost the baby.
The grief after a miscarriage is indescribable.
It’s so unimaginable that a woman endures physical, emotional, and mental pain.
It’s not easy to move forward and try again without having to fear that maybe you might lose that child again.
This is why stories of rainbow babies give so much hope.
Rainbow babies are those who are born or adopted after a failed pregnancy or miscarriage.
They are called such because it’s like seeing a rainbow after the storm, the light after the darkness.
They give extreme joy to the mother and the rest of the family. It takes a lot of courage for a mother to try again; thus, having a rainbow baby is very powerful.
Rainbow babies are not replacements for lost babies.
They remind you that you once carried life with you despite having such a short bond and memory with them. Their legacy lives on through the rainbow babies as they honor the life that once was.
For one mother, she’d sadly experienced five miscarriages. So, she kept the most recent one a secret.
Victoria Cameron-Cheyne was a mother of four who also had five miscarriages in the past. She said that the recent one was the most painful and traumatic for her. She couldn’t imagine how she overcame all that to become pregnant again.
When she found out she was pregnant, she kept it all a secret.
Nobody in her family knew, not even her kids, who only knew about their younger brother when she was already 35 weeks.
“We are a very body-positive family, so even though it was obvious my belly was growing, no one asked,” she told Inside Edition.
Victoria decided to keep it a secret so it wouldn’t be as painful.
In her interview with Inside Edition, she said she didn’t want to announce her pregnancy because it would only make her family too excited and keep their hopes up.
She didn’t want the repeated heartbreak of having to tell them she lost her child in case it ended in a miscarriage again.
Thankfully, this time it went well, and she gave birth to little Tyrian.
Victoria and her four kids visited her family to surprise them. In the video, the older siblings shout “surprise!” as Victoria presents her baby.
The grandparents were shocked and even asked her, “whose child is this?” to which she and the kids gladly answered, “ours.”
Some said it was too much of a shock to her family, and some voiced concerns that she may have dropped a massive bomb in front of them.
However, Victoria said that her family was just as delighted as she was when they finally overcame the shock!
