Children often joke about how embarrassing their parents are. From the hobbies they enjoy to the clothes they wear, these youths are often red in the face whenever they are seen with their parents in public.
But at the DDI Dance Convention, one mom made her daughter proud by coming out to rock it on the dance floor.
The video begins as a large group of parents take the stage.
As the parents take the stage for a special parents-only performance, the crowd is roaring. From family to friends, everyone is losing their minds watching the show.
But then, you hear one child near the camera yell out:
“Her Mom’s out there, ya’all!”
We soon figure out which mom we’re talking about as the camera focuses on a woman in a red and gray shirt. She joins the other moms in a wide line up that takes up the entire performance space.
After the moms line up, the music begins.
The action kicks in immediately as the song starts, a heavy dance tune designed to get you moving. Though all the parents are showing their stuff, the mom in red and gray claps her hands and boogies down.
She twists and moves and works with her fellow dancers to show off that she still has it. You can hear the excitement in the air as the crowd cheers and calls out for more.
And you can tell this makes her daughter proud when…
At one point, as the parents really show off with a twisting squat step, you can hear one young girl call out her feelings when she says:
“She’s My Inspiration!”
It’s not every day that a parent can hear that from their child, but you can just imagine the big smile on this mom’s face when she hears it.
As the song picks up, the steps become more complicated with shoulder bops and twirls all timed exquisitely with the music. The crowd can’t believe what they’re seeing and viewers might have trouble hearing what this mom’s child has to say.
But all good things come to a close, but this one went out with a bang.
Neither the crowd nor the young girl was ready for what came next.
As the song kicks in to the final heavy percussion beats, the parents break into a running in place step that has to be seen to be believed. Then, as the crowd goes wild, they hop side to side sweeping their arms out.
It’s an awesome moment that has the girl call out that her mom is her inspiration.
DDI Dance Conventions made this moment possible but…
Year after year, the DDI Dance Convention is one of the biggest shows to come to Ardmore, Oklahoma. The emphasis on training new dancers is perfect for creating moments like the one in the video.
But the 2020 convention had to be closed due to the global pandemic. We can only look forward to the next inspirational show when it starts up again.
