The relationship between grandparents and grandchildren is truly special.

A close relationship between grandparent and grandchild has positive effects on the health and well-being of both.

For example, a study showed that children who grow up with greater emotional closeness to their grandparents are less likely to be depressed as adults.

This is just one of the many benefits of a close grandparent-grandchild relationship.

This relationship is often cultivated when parents ask their own parents to watch over their kids.

Grandparents are often the go-to babysitters when parents need to leave the house for a few days.

However, this mom regretted asking her dad to babysit her son and detailed why in a now-viral TikTok by mom @almostmakesperfect.

Her TikTok began with a clip of her and her husband at the beach with the words: “How to have a relaxing babymoon-don’t ask your dad to babysit,” over the video.

The next clip is a security camera video of her son and her dad by the front door with the caption, “heading to school 30 minutes late and without a backpack.”

She then shows their hilarious text exchange about toasting bread.

Grandpa first sends a photo of the toaster knob and asks which setting to use.

She replies, “The one that looks like bread, all the way to the left.” He answers back with, “One that looked like pizza worked.”

He then asks her where the guacamole and sour cream are.

She answers as descriptively as possible, describing where to find both the guacamole and the sour cream inside the refrigerator.

He answers back with, “Found the sour cream.”

Then he asks again “Guacamole?” even if she already told him where the guacamole is.

It’s like he completely ignored or didn’t read her previous reply.

The food texts don’t stop there.

Next, he sends her a photo of a half-eaten pizza.

He asks if it needs to be refrigerated and if he should put the pizza in plastic bags.

She replies, “Yes, you should refrigerate leftover pizza.”

The following clip is even funnier.

She asks him to send a photo of her son Arlo.

His reply – “Why? You know what he looks like.”

Finally, Mom asks someone else in the house helping out with her son to take a photo of her dad.

“Can you secretly take a photo of my dad. Is he just sitting on his phone?”

The photo she receives is not of her dad sitting on the phone but her dad drinking from a beer bottle while her son uses his tablet nearby.

This viral TikTok now has over one million views, and the comments show that she’s not the only one who has been in this situation.

One commenter shared, “I asked my FIL for a pic of my baby so he sent me a pic that I sent him of her last week.”

Another said, “My 7 yo told my dad we leave him alone all the time so dad left him alone and went to a 3 hour meeting.”

While having grandparents babysit their grandkids can result in hilarious situations like this one, they still serve as excellent opportunities for grandparents to bond with their grandchildren.
