Baby showers are very popular nowadays. They give parents-to-be the chance to celebrate the baby that will soon be the new member of the family, while they are also a great opportunity for the couple to get some practical gifts for the new baby.
And if you’re wondering how invites are sent in 2022, well forget about the post. It’s all about technology now! Invites are sent through text messages and it couldn’t get simpler than that.
But, even in this case, there can be mistakes. Like in the case of Candace and David’s baby shower for their daughter Luna who they were expecting soon.
It seems that when the texts were being sent, one mistake was made and an invite was sent to a complete stranger. The couple, who live in California, accidentally invited to the baby shower Angela White from Indiana.
And, although this could have been the end of the story, with Angela just receiving the text message and ignoring it, it was the beginning of a heartwarming story that brought two families together- even virtually.
“Every time like I, I thought about it, I was like I — I didn’t get that text just randomly,” White told WXIN. “Like, I don’t know why, but there was a reason why I got that text and invite to that shower.”
Angela, a military wife herself, is running a business in which she knits and sells cozy blankets for homeless veterans. So, she thought, what would be a better gift for the new baby than a self-knit blanket?
“I just kept … I couldn’t get the, you know, that feeling to go away, so, made the blanket and sent it on out with hopes that it would make its way to them,” White said.
So, she got to work. Soon, she had prepared the cute blanket and sent it to the family hoping that they would receive it. And they did.
“Angela, from Indiana, is not a family member or anyone we know at all. She was an accidental recipient of the text invite for my baby shower in February!! She happens to make & sell knit blankets & donates to homeless veterans in Indiana. So she decided to send one our way,” Candace allegedly shared in a Facebook post.
As White replied to the post, when she saw the invite, she just couldn’t ignore it.
And it was great that she didn’t. Receiving a special gift for their soon-to-be-born daughter from a complete stranger made the couple feel blessed.
Eventually, the new parents and White met virtually through a video call and they just chatted about their unbelievable story.
During the call, Candace actually showed White the blanket that she happened to have around and White was really touched that her gift made the family happy. She also got the chance to see baby Luna, which was a pleasure.
