When you have a baby, that child becomes your world. As a parent, you would do anything to protect them; they’re the apple of your eye.
Then, eventually, you’re forced to spend time apart.
Sometimes, it’s just having a babysitter over while mom goes to do groceries; other times, grandma may come to visit to hold down the fort while dad is at work. Whatever the case may be, Mom and Dad need to be sure they pick a babysitter they can trust.
A little while back, Johnathan Lai, a California father, hired Jenny Lee Baker as a nanny for his young child.
When Johnathan met Jenny, he immediately trusted her as someone who could properly care for his son. After a terrifying series of events unfolded this past August, Johnathan is now more confident than ever.
This past August, Jenny was hailed as a hero for the way she handled a terrifying situation.
According to Inside Edition, Jenny and her three-year-old charge had gone out to do some errands while Johnathan was at work. While they were gone, however, someone decided to break into the family home.
The security footage shows an unknown thief breaking into the home and searching for valuables.
The young man doesn’t look much older than a teenager, but his identity remains unknown. In the video, you see him, clad in an offensive T-shirt, bursting through a window before ransacking Jenny’s purse on the kitchen counter. Once he’s scoured the area for goods, he moves on to the upper floor.
“To have him going into my kids’ rooms and to see him just walking in was the scariest thing for me,” said Lai.
At this time, Jenny and the toddler return from their errands— with no idea, there’s a stranger waiting in the home.
As soon as Jenny walks in, however, she gets the immediate feeling that something is definitely wrong. In the video, she tells Inside Edition:
“I knew something wasn’t right, so I started calling his [the toddler’s] name to have him come to me, so we could get out.
The family’s security cameras capture Jenny snatching the toddler from the kitchen before bolting out the front door.
Upon hearing the commotion, the burglar immediately jets down the stairs after them, fleeing the property a few moments later.
Jenny is so worried, she doesn’t even grab her shoes— fleeing barefoot to a neighbor’s house with the toddler slung upon her hip.
“It was sheer panic,” she described.
Since the events were captured on security footage, people have been praising Jenny as a hero. “What she did for my son and what she does on daily is unbelievable,” Lai said.
“I am so grateful that she’s in our lives.”
Since being uploaded to YouTube, the heart-racing footage has been viewed over a million times.
People love the way Jenny dropped everything to care for her young charge, protecting him from what could have been a potentially deadly scenario:
“That’s what a nanny is supposed to do!”
“Damn she ran out barefoot. Well done.”
“That is a super super nanny”
