Bringing a child into the home is a special moment.

Some parents are able to have children naturally, and others face infertility problems or just prefer to adopt. There are thousands of children in need of parents. Although most people think the adoption process is too long and stressful to deal with, there are many parents who have adopted multiple children.

When Heather and Brent decided that they were ready to add another child to their lives, a professional photographer named Haley Griffin and her fiancé, Johnny Cheramie, of Something Southern Photography documented everything that was going on with videos and photographs.

They managed to capture some incredibly special moments for the family.

The couple already has an adoptive daughter Willa, who is 3. They included her in the experience, and Willa seems excited to become a big sister. The family got to be at the hospital from the time the baby was born, so they could start bonding with her early.

Heather wants everyone to know that the baby’s birth mother is the real hero in this story and that they are very thankful she chose them to be the parents of her daughter, Adela.

Brandy interviewed several couples when she decided that she would be giving her baby up for adoption, and she knew from the start that Heather and Brent were special. Heather said:

“Really Brandy’s the hero. She’s the one who had to break her own heart.”

Brandy told the family on Christmas Day that they were the ones she had chosen.

A few months afterward, they got a call that Brandy was in labor, so they rushed to the hospital to meet their new daughter. Heather and Brent didn’t want to keep Brandy out of the baby’s life, though. Instead, they chose to have an open adoption. Brandy gets to see photos, talk on the phone with Adela, and even spend time with her.

The adoption process wasn’t an easy one for Heather and Brent.

It was very expensive. Although they didn’t want to ask for financial help, they knew it was their only option. They created a fundraiser on You Caring where they shared their story and asked for help. They posted:

”Our journey to begin our family has been a long and expensive one. While we are thrilled to be adopted, the financial burden of adoption is huge! In the end, our adoption will cost around $35,000. We are humbly fundraising to help lighten this burden and to get us closer to our baby. Each person who donates to our adoption becomes a part of our family’s story — a piece of the puzzle. Help us bring our baby home and be a forever part of his or her nursery and heart by sponsoring a piece of the photo puzzle.”

They even came up with a creative way to involve all the donors in the family’s life as a way to let them know that they would forever be grateful for their help.

They explained how they were making a special piece of décor. They posted:

“We have selected a 300-piece photo puzzle to be displayed in the baby’s nursery. Each $30 donation sponsors a piece. With each donation, we will write the name of the sponsoring person/people on the back of the puzzle piece. You can sponsor one piece of the puzzle or as many as you would like. You can sponsor one piece from your family or a piece for each member of your family. You can sponsor as an individual or as a group. Once all of the puzzle pieces are sponsored, the puzzle will be framed with double-sided glass and hung on the nursery wall. As our baby grows, he or she will be able to look at the back of the puzzle to see the names of all of the people who helped bring our family together.”

It all turned out to be an amazing and touching process.

Thanks to the photographer, who is also Heather’s sister, the entire world got to be a part of this beautiful event. Heather and Brent now have a completed family, and Brandy knows that her baby has the best life possible.
