A huge part of childhood is dedicated to playing make believe.
For sisters, Brie Dietz, 35 and Chaulet Barba, 33, childhood was one of sweet memories and adventures playing pretend. These memories were kept close to their heart and they never forgot the fun times they had playing make believe. One time in particular the sisters, who were 6 and 4 at the time, decided to dress up and pretend to be pregnant women. Their mom took a photo of them and that was that. Well, not quite. No one could have predicted that years later, the close-knit sisters would actually be pregnant at the same time.
“Remember that photo?” – Brie Dietz
When Brie and Chaulet found out their happy news, Brie couldn’t help but remember taking that photo when they were little. With a little digging, she was able to find it. The adorable photo shows the girls with curlers in their hair and balloons under their nightgowns.
The California sisters recreate the photo.
After finding the cute photo, the sisters decide to take a real pregnancy photo. The two women stand side-by-side smiling, lifting their shirts and showing off their pregnant bumps.
The babies are born.
Dietz gave birth to a baby girl, Goldie who is now 2 and her sister gave birth to Gemma who is just 1. The little cousins are bound to be close just like the sisters were when they were little. They shared an updated photo of the beautiful babies.
They may be cousins but they are more like sisters.
With the families spending so many of life’s moments together, these cousins are bound to be super close. The moms even decided to recreate their memorable photo shoot with their daughters. Maybe these little girls will be able to keep the tradition going when they are older.
Sharing happy times together.
The sisters shared pics on Instagram wearing matching bikinis holding their daughters wrapped in matching towels. There is no doubt this family loves each other and has the best time. Life’s moments are all about spending time with the ones you love.
Playing pretend is something all children have in common.
When asked about the adorable photo recreation, Brie shared her thoughts on why it struck a chord with people online. “So many girls can relate to that sweet childhood when you’re innocently playing with your siblings…I hope it makes people remember that sweet time when you’re in this little world of your own with your siblings, and we can’t mimic that now in our busy day-to-day lives.” – Brie Dietz told dailymail.co.uk.
Another sweet recreation.
If the balloon photo and the baby bumps weren’t cute enough, Brie decides to recreate another one of their childhood photos. Instead of the two cousins sharing a moment, Brie decided to recreate it with her two daughters. She shared a photo from the 90s of her and her sister sound asleep in the same bed. She then posted a side-by-side photo of her two girls, Goldie and Elle sleeping in the same bed. We can see why they decided to recreate it. It is something out of a storybook.
