“Time spent with family is never wasted,” as the saying goes.
There are a lot of activities that challenge the time of the family – like work, school, assignments, meetings, friends, daily chores, and other obligations.
Spending quality time with family, on the other hand, has many advantages.
Dr. Todd Thatcher, DO, CMRO, works with the Director of Nursing at Valley Behavioral Health. He is in charge of supervising and overseeing medical operations.
He discussed the health benefits of spending time with family.
Some of these include “improves mental health,” “helps children perform well academically,” “boosts self-confidence,” “reduces stress,” and “enhances physical health.”
A family decided to spend their day swimming. Right after is when a frightening accident happened.
This is the story of a pair of hero siblings. It’s the case of a toddler boy who went into the pool by himself and his two sisters saved his life, which could have ended very differently.
The incident occurred in the family’s swimming pool at their home in Benicia, California one August morning.
The security footage, which has since gone viral, revealed the details of the event.
Sisters Bella and Priscilla were wrapping up after swimming, while their mother was inside getting their little brother Maximus dressed.
“My kids had just gone swimming, I brought my then 2-year-old inside to get dressed. I went to get his clothes and, before I realized it, he ran back
outside,” the mother of the children recalled.
Maximus, a two-year-old, wanders away from his mother and heads back into the yard. This is where the uncovered swimming pool is located.
Maximus hops into the pool and stands on the steps before diving into the inviting water!
Maximus’ sisters rush to his rescue right away.
“Thank god my then 9-year-old daughter Bella and 6-year-old daughter Priscilla were still outside and saw Maximus go into the pool.”
Fortunately, his sisters notice him leaping into the pool. And without hesitation, his nine-year-old sister Bella leaps in after him.
Bella pushes him to the side of the pool, where their six-year-old sister Priscilla is waiting to assist them.
Then Priscilla goes to get a towel and wraps it around him.
“I came out shortly after and was so proud of my girls but also so upset at myself. I should have closed the pool and will always remember how close I came to losing my baby,” their mom shared.
Thankfully, the toddler was unharmed in the incident.
Maximus was totally fine. His mother said he is also now taking swimming lessons.
“He will always remember when his big sister saved his life.”
Maximus was saved just in time by his courageous older sisters!
Many people commended the heroic actions of the siblings. One person left a comment saying,
“Good job kiddos 👍”
And another one said that it was “A Sisters Love.”
This is a good reminder to all parents that when a young child is left unattended near a pool, a tragic accident can occur quickly.
