The Clogging Champions of America or simply called the CCA was formed in 1997 with the aim of promoting fun and fellowship among avid cloggers and those looking to get in to clog dancing.
They promote themselves a s a group that creates such a fun and competitive atmosphere that even beginner cloggers will feel welcome and comfortable among the more seasoned dancers.
It is a healthy atmosphere for all who have been clogging for years and those new to the group.
It’s not easy being a beginner and the pressure and intimidation are all too real.
The CCA makes sure all participants and competitors get the same treatment.
This team of five are all about that clog dancing.
Clog dancing is not to be confused with tap dancing. Where tap dancers stay light on their feet and dance to the melodies of their music, clog dancers perform with an up and down motion using their heels to make sounds. They dance to the beat too.
Like these ladies. They are Sole Power and they mean business.
Decked in striking outfits and possessing radiant smiles, these ladies are about to set fire to that stage.
They have ridiculous amounts of energy and the movements are lightning fast. Don’t blink when watching these girls because you will miss something. Turn those speakers up!
Set to a remix of “Get Low’ by Lil Jon and The East Side Boyz, the buzz on stage is electric and once the music starts, even the audience explodes with energy.
One of the more remembered hip-hop tunes of the new millennium.
This group of five explodes like a time bomb and though their moves are quick, there is a fluidity and smoothness to their routine that sets them apart from the other performers.
Pretty obvious that they’re enjoying themselves too. Those smiles!
They were asked to bring it and they brought it and then some.
That familiar swag can be seen for each sequence they bring out and there isn’t any doubt these girls are confident.
The event is a showdown of the country’s best clog dancers and it would be foolish to think this team of five are not contenders.
Where tap dancers usually perform solo with more intricate movements, clog dancers prefer to dance in groups or teams in a formation and each member doing the same steps at the same time.
Neither dance is easier or harder with each requiring tremendous amounts of energy and talent.
And talent these ladies have. The dance has elements of hip-hop and pop and it is incredible to see such creativity that they are able to fuse them with clog dancing. Can you imagine the number of hours that went in to choreography and practice?
They nail their routine with precision bordering on perfection. Those smiles are perfect accessories to those cool outfits too.
The Sole Power ladies are sassy and spunky and definitely scintillating.
The dance is so much fun to watch that even those who have never heard of clog dancing would be mesmerized and stunned by this performance. It may very well be their foray in to the dance itself. Good job, ladies!
