Bree Cox, a 14-year-old girl, recently earned a coveted spot on her high school’s competition dance team at Murray High School.

More than just a position, it was a realization of a dream and an empowering story for others.

Bree has always wanted to dance alongside her older sister Adrie.

Her love for cheer dancing started with their eldest sister Kyra.

Since then, she has treated her sisters as role models and a source of inspiration and support.

But life is difficult for people with disabilities. They are often judged and excluded as they are deemed inadequate for their dreams.

All that was about to change for Bree when she received a message from their school.

The heartwarming moment when Bree learned she had made the team was captured on video and shared on Instagram by Kecia Cox, her mother.

Witnessing Bree’s inclusion on the drill team, where she no longer feels different, has made every challenge worth it for the Cox family.

Bree’s passion for dance began at a young age.

She attended her sisters’ competitions and memorized every routine.

Bree latched on to her dream since then – that one day, she would dance as her sisters did.

When audition day finally arrived, both Bree and Adrie showcased their dance routines to judges and coaches.

Despite Bree’s lack of prior experience, she exuded confidence and fearlessness.

Dancing is where she truly shines, disregarding others’ opinions and finding comfort in expressing herself.

A few days later, Bree and Adrie received individual letters.

Both of them were chosen to join the team.

Bree remained composed at first, nonchalantly acknowledging the news.

However, her emotions overwhelmed her as the day progressed, and she tearfully shared her excitement with her father.

The viral video of that heartfelt moment on Kecia’s Instagram quickly went viral.

Bree’s accomplishment represents the possibility of inclusivity and acceptance for all individuals.

It provides hope that more opportunities and teams are willing to create space for individuals like Bree.

Kecia believes this experience has proved how important it is to believe in children with disabilities.

It goes beyond being kind and tolerant – it involves genuinely seeing and valuing their potential and breaking the limitations used to define them.
