If you think you’ve baby-proofed the whole house enough, think again.
You could line tables and cushion sharp corners with foam strips, install baby gates near entryways and staircases, and attach safety locks,but your toddler will still find a way around all these. That’s just how crafty and quick they are. You might also want to consider the possibility of your little tikes having accomplices – you know, those who come in the form of gentle, fluffy pets.
You see, toddlers want to do everything all at once.
Barriers aren’t obstacles in their eyes – they’re challenges that are exciting to explore and overcome. And when they figure out how certain things around the house work, well you have no choice but to switch it up again. That’s why apart from the above mentioned baby proofing strategies, you can’t forget the basics: keeping doors locked, storing sharp objects and other breakable items in unreachable places, and making good use of the baby monitor.
You need as much help as possible given that these little ones are just brimming with energy and curiosity day in and day out.
The same goes for pets, too. Cunning and intelligent, it won’t take them long to learn how to do stuff like open doors and reach for random objects.
And when toddlers and pets work together, curious things happen in the middle of the night.
Nina and Chris Cardinal thought their toddler Chloe was snoozing away in her room.
Well, she was. Until two of her friends decided to barge in and bust her out.
Baby monitor footage shows the two Golden Retrievers, Bleu and Colby, opening the door to the toddler’s room and excitedly waking the little one.
Instead of fussing over interrupted sleep, the 15-month-old eagerly sat up, got out of bed, and followed her pals outside.
Apparently, Chloe had recently learned how to feed the dogs and her furry friends decided she was the best one for the job.
“Lately, she’s been dropping food for them from their bin, so they figured she must be good to help feed them breakfast.”
While no one knew for sure if Chloe did feed Bleu and Colby that night, the important thing is Nina and Chris were alerted on how easily Chloe could make her way out of her bedroom.
Thanks to the baby monitor and the Golden Retrievers’ antics, the parents can now elevate safety measures in terms of baby-proofing (and pet-proofing) certain areas of the house. This amusing footage perfectly highlights the saying “You can never be too careful”, especially with a toddler in the house.
It’s perfectly understandable for viewers to initially express fear at the possible risks of a 15-month-old getting up in the middle of the night but one should also know that the parents are always on top of their daughter’s safety and have trained their dogs well, too.
This means no matter what mishap they may get into during the wee hours, Chloe will still be in good hands as the family pets are great at looking after her.
