When Kaycee Triana was pregnant with her baby boy, she couldn’t wait to meet him. During Thanksgiving, and although she was already two weeks overdue, she visited her parents in Arkansas.
After spending Thanksgiving with her family, on the Saturday that followed, she went into labor.
She got in the car, along with her sister, and headed to the hospital. Before getting there, they stopped at the local Denny’s where her mother worked to pick her up as well.
But it was already too late. Kaycee was ready to give birth to her baby and there was no time to lose.
Inside Denny’s, there were two truck drivers who took matters into their own hands. They took control of the situation without even thinking twice.
“She was screaming and saying, ‘I think the baby’s coming! I think the baby’s coming,'” said Denny’s employee Linda McClure, according to DailyMail.
The men helped the pregnant woman lie on a carpet and they asked others to bring clean towels.
Kaycee was ready to start pushing, and soon she did.
‘I just pushed one more time and the head came out and I had to drop my pants so somebody would realize: it’s here,’ Triana told NBC6.
In the meantime, her mother, Suzanne Nettles, who had already left for the hospital, called her daughter in order to check on them.
Kaycee’s sister let their mother know they were still at Denny’s and that they were probably not leaving any time soon. So Nettles made her way back to the restaurant in order to help her daughter with labor.
But there was no time to lose. Back at the restaurant, Kaycee had already started pushing and the truck drivers tried to encourage her and give her instructions.
Soon, they saw the baby’s head and the baby boy was starting to come out, but there was a problem.
The umbilical cord had been wrapped around the baby’s neck making it impossible for the baby to breathe.
“There was no life in the baby, no movements. The baby was light blue,” one of the truck drivers recalled in an episode of “Outrageous Births Tales From the Crib.”
The men had to ask the woman to stop pushing, while they were getting instructions from the 911 dispatcher.
As the woman was pushing, the umbilical cord was strangling the baby, so the truck drivers had to ask the woman to stop. And, even more than that, they had to push the baby back inside.
The men managed to push the baby a little inside and, as the umbilical cord went loose again, they managed to unwrap the baby’s neck.
With one last push, the baby was finally out. But his mom heard no cry.
The truck driver with a couple of moves helped the baby breathe and that was when everyone was relieved.
Mother and son were healthy, and that was all that mattered. All thanks to the help of these amazing men.
One thing is for sure, Kaycee and the truck drivers will never forget this experience.
