It’s widely believed that twins are born with a special connection. Something about sharing a womb, a birthday and several (if not all) genetic traits seems to bond twins together in ways that seem remarkable. There have been reports of one twin knowing that the other is upset or in danger, or of even borderline telepathic communication between twins. Whether or not these stories are true, growing up so close to another human being must have a profound effect on your level of personal connection with that sibling. Twins can be monozygotic (identical) or dizygotic (fraternal/non-identical)…
…but it seems the connection remains the same either way.
Some twins famously even take turns playing the same person.
Famously, we can think of the identical pair Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen. As children they took turns sharing the role of Michelle Tanner for years on sitcom Full House because the strict laws surrounding child labour prevented children from working on set for too long. But with twins, you get the same face for twice as long!
Twins have the reputation for being little peas in a pod. We have all heard the stories of twins being separated at birth, meeting at the airport to see each other for the first time, and showing up wearing the same clothes. There’s just something about the twin bond that fascinates us all.
And the bond begins young!
When we watch two baby twins yammer on to each other, we can see this is true. Young Merle and Stijn are a freshly born set of twins who seem to be getting their twin bonds off to a strong start by chatting their mouths off to each other.
Well, I have never seen anything as adorable as this!
If their cute smiles aren’t enough to make your heart not only melt, but evaporate into a steam of swooning then I don’t know what will. The way that they chat to each other as if sharing a secret joke between them is the ultimate level of cute. Take your idea of what you think cute is, double it, convert it into the metric system, times it by five, convert back to imperial, then add 2 because it is an unreasonable degree of cuteness.
Well, I want to know what they’re saying
Because whatever it is, it must be pretty funny! Stijn and Merle are brother and sister, so they fall into that fraternal twin category, but their connection seems intrinsic. One day when they grow up, I wonder if they will keep this tight bond they have at already such a young age. Before they can even say any real words they enjoy talking to each other.
The way they look into each other’s eyes is without a doubt the sweetest thing in this world. If there is anything cuter than this, I don’t want to know about it because I will not be able to handle it.
