Twins might look alike but they usually have pretty different personalities. One might be a daredevil while the other is shy. Or one might just simply be ready to do something that the other isn’t.
Nature and nurture might indicate that twins would do everything at the same rate, but with all of the little things that happen over the course of a day or week, we forge our own, unique path.
Stick to the plan
The two twin boys in this viral video clearly have a lot in common. And they’re even still content to dress alike.
But that doesn’t mean they’re both going to have the same reactions – even when it comes to something as simple as walking down the stairs.
The twin on the right seems like he’s in a hurry as he waits for his brother to meet him on the bottom step. There seems to be a plan – to jump off the bottom stair together while holding hands.
It should be easy once they get to the bottom, right? Join hands and make the leap.
But not so fast.
Kids sometimes need everything just right. And it appears the brother on the right is pretty picky about the way they hold hands.
Taking the leap
The twin who seemed so sure-footed a minute ago suddenly needs to switch his grip. Everything needs to be perfect.
The other twin – well, he ain’t got time for that.
Then, something unexpected happens – the ultimate betrayal.
Win, lose, or draw
Suddenly, twin #2 has had enough. If this is going to get all complicated then he’s just going to do it himself.
So he jumps first.
And before his little feet even hit the ground, a temper tantrum begins. Feeling betrayed, his brother starts to cry – either at being left behind or because he had a perfect plan that his brother just spoiled.
How could you?
This is, quite literally, the end of the world.
Nothing worse has ever happened and everything is ruined. Forever.
Or at least that’s what you’d think by seeing the little boy left in the dust.
But no matter what happens, these twins are two of a kind and friends forever.
So the jumper comes back.
There’s also the small matter of mom behind the camera. And it’s clear that simply coming back in not going to solve the problem entirely.
Now the question is: is anyone in trouble? What’s supposed to happen now?
The resolution
Mom always knows what to do. And he knows her son got his feelings hurt when he got left behind. She also knows there’s only one way to solve the problem.
So in the name of mutual respect and resolving things peacefully, she tells her son to get back on the steps to rejoin his twin.
And the little one just needed some guidance – he goes immediately and rejoins his brother for a do-over.
As they clasp hands again, the plan goes off without a hitch. They both jump down together.
Then they hug it out.
This time, they go running off into the distance to the car. One is faster than the other, but this time it doesn’t matter.
They’re going to the same place, together.
