In nearly 50 percent of two-parent households, both moms and dads hold down jobs away from home. Although there’s a rising number of dads who become the stay-at-home parent, typically, it’s the mom who’s home all day caring for the little ones.
For dads, that means they spend a great deal of time away from their kids. So, when they return home from work, they’re super excited to love on their children. And most kids are just as excited to see their dads.
Twin girls
One mom and dad have two adorable twin girls, Anabel and Lydia. Since they’re still little, they don’t have a full grasp of life. Yet they’re still quite insightful. As their mom, Maritza Van Cott explained, when her husband is at work, it doesn’t seem to bother them too much.
Busy during the day
More than likely, Maritza keeps the girls busy. Between playing, napping, and eating breakfast and lunch, they don’t have a lot of time to think about their dad not being home during the day.
The joy of exploration
This mom goes on to share that right now, the twins are interested in exploring the small world around them. For these girls, every day brings some kind of new adventure. In response, they’re soaking it all up and slowly starting to put pieces of the puzzle together.
The sound of the door
She then says things change the second they hear the front door opening. Even though they’re incapable of using time as a reference, they do recognize faces. These girls also show a preference for certain people.
A viral video
Knowing how the twins respond when their daddy comes home, Maritza decided to capture their expressions on video. It’s so cute that since uploading it to social media, it’s been viewed more than 7.6 million times. Not only is their reaction sweet but also funny.
Curiosity
Initially, the girls look toward the door. They know something is about to happen but their not sure what it is. So, they curiously stare ahead, waiting for the big surprise.
Daddy’s little angels
As soon as they see it’s their dad, it’s as though a superhero just walked into the house. The way they look at him, there’s no question these girls love and admire him. That’s when they start smiling and never stop.
Everything stopped
The toys strewn across the floor no longer mattered. They don’t even seem to notice Mom anymore, who’s still filming. All these girls know is that their daddy is home. That’s it. Their adorable smiles turned to laughter.
Cracking up
At this point, both Anabel and Lydia are in complete hysterics. They’re so overcome with joy at the sight of their dad, they can’t contain themselves. In watching them, you can see what an incredible moment this was, for the girls and their father.
Melting daddy’s heart
We can only imagine how this made the girls’ dad feel. Working all day and then coming home to a loving wife and two precious twins. Without question, this is the highlight.
