The classic twin switch.
Kelly and Karrie Hardwick pull off their own version of a beloved but often uncaught prank on their parents. See, Kelly moved to Singapore which of course made her whole family miss her.
Well their parents, Steve and Susie, were getting ready to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary in Illinois so the more than like-minded sisters came up with the idea of using their advantage as a means to surprise both mom and dad.
Kelly traveled from Singapore to Illinois.
The trip took twenty hours but it was well worth it just to see their parents happy. The surprise switch took place in the morning when everyone was getting ready to pour coffee and have breakfast. Just another normal morning in Illinois except for the anniversary.
Kelly walks in as “Karrie” in her pajamas without so much as a reaction from mom and dad.
And why would they? It’s the usual routine anyway. That is until the real Karrie walks in with an announcement. In her pajamas too!
Karrie goes,
“Are you sure I’m not Aunty Karrie?”
Steve and Susie’s faces are priceless!
Another family member was holding the camera filming the whole scene as a baby seemed more interested with the pancakes.
Mom reaches out for a long embrace, as if making up for all the lost time her other daughter was away. Steve walks around from behind the counter, locking both his wife and Kelly with such a heartfelt hug. You can feel it just by watching them.
Those are happy tears drizzled with lots of love and laughs.
Can you imagine how Susie and Steve must have felt realizing that both their daughters are in the same room? How long was Kelly away? It must have been ages for these wonderful parents. Even Karrie has her best friend back!
Best wedding anniversary present EVER!
And suddenly, the coffee was forgotten, the food got cold, but the hearts in that kitchen were at the warmest they’ve ever been. And all it took was some planning. Well and a twenty hour flight. Worth it!
Twin pranks are always fun. Reminds you of a movie called The Parent Trap. Whether you prefer the original or the 1998 version, it does provide entertainment on the many delightful twists of having a twin.
Steve and Susie raised two wonderful daughters.
Women who are selfless yet strong and determined in life.
Many stories were shared that day. Lots of laughter and tears flowed but beyond the planned prank were two sisters who thought of nothing but making their parents happy with a simple switch.
The Hardwicks can always look back and enjoy this moment together. The video has nearly 735,000 views on YouTube but perhaps, more importantly, is the fact that no matter the distance, family always comes first. Good job, sisters!
