It feels pretty good to know that your loved ones have missed you while you’ve been away. Whether you’ve been lucky enough to have people holding “welcome home” signs at the airport, or you receive great big bear hugs – it’s an undeniably nice feeling.
For those who have small children or dogs at home, you might experience a heartwarming scene each time you walk through the front door from work. There’s nothing better than being greeted by dogs and kids knowing how excited they are to see you. Really, can it get any more soul-boosting?
One dad must have felt like a million bucks after he saw his son and dog’s reactions to him getting home. In fact, it’s such an adorable clip, it’s won over the internet too.
The baby in the video is standing at the front door watching for his dad to drive up. He’s, of course, got his trusty dog by his side helping with the watch. Dad’s vehicle can be spotted the moment you press play – and the two are about to burst with excitement.
Mom’s filming as dad’s vehicle makes its way down the road. Immediately, the baby yells and his feet start doing “the happy dance.”
As for the pooch? Its tail is wagging at lightning speed and it watches excitedly through the door just like its buddy.
Yay, daddy’s home!
The precious little guy begins waving at his dad for an early greeting. Thank goodness mom decided to hit record because it’s all super-sweet.
The dog can’t hold back once the car nears the driveway.
Immediately, the pooch whimpers seeing how close dad is to getting home. It makes an enthusiastic circle and heads back to the door. Oooh, he’s close! He’s close!
Not all of us are able to walk up to a scene like this every day, but it’s really nice if you can. Statista reports that according to a 2019-2020 pet survey, more than 63 million American households had at least one dog.
While the entire video is adorable so far – it goes to another level of cuteness once dad pulls up on the driveway.
Together, the duo goes nuts! The baby yells and stomps his feet doing his happy dance – while the dog stands and scratches at the door. What’s hilarious is that they look so similar in their responses (despite being so different).

If you’ve ever stayed home with a baby or toddler all day, it’s pretty exciting for ALL of you when your partner comes home. Mom’s face isn’t pressed up against the door in the video, but surely she was doing a silent happy dance too!
Unfortunately, we don’t get to see dad actually walk inside. However, one can only imagine how incredible that scene was!
