Whenever you come across a video of siblings it is a toss up of whether it is going to be a sweet video or a video of them fighting. This particular video of Cal and his younger sister just so happens to be a sweet video. It shows Cal’s younger sister crying and him coming to comfort her. It is so heartwarming to see a video of a brother actually excited to spend time with his sister.
In the video you can see Cal’s sister crying on the bed and then Cal climbs up and goes to lay next to her. At first it is hard to tell what his plan is because it sounds like he starts to call her a stinky baby but then he starts to get a little sweeter. Cal starts to rub her arm and her face, comforting her. He starts to repeatedly say,
“Cootie baby’s.”
Who knows what “cootie baby’s” actually means but it seems to have a positive effect on Cal’s sister. You can see her face start to lighten up and she even starts to giggle and stick her tongue out at Cal’s chant of “cootie baby’s.” The precious giggle of a baby is all you need to turn your day around if you’re in a bad mood.
There have been so many videos on the internet showing parents telling their children that they are going to be an older brother or sister and the child starts to cry or throw a tantrum. It is clear that Cal does not think that way about his baby sister. It is very clear in this 58 second video that he really cares for her. Instead of covering her mouth so he won’t hear her cries, he comforts her and tries to make her laugh. That is a very nice change from the usual videos of siblings fighting.
The bond between siblings has the chance to be very great or very poor and these siblings look like they are on the path of having a really great sibling bond. You can see the way they look at each other that they are already each other’s best friends. Although by the end of the video, Cal’s sister looks almost as confused as any adult would be by the repetition of the phrase, “cootie baby’s.”
Even siblings with great relationships seem to have trouble with personal space. At one point in the video, Cal gets up close and personal in his sisters face. So close that their noses touch and his sister does not seem to know how to handle that situation. But Cal’s endeavors to make her stop crying definitely worked! His sister had stopped crying and even laughed a couple of times.
Parents around the world probably look at these siblings and wish that their own children got along just as well. There must be some sort of secret code to get a relationship like that, right? Let’s take Cal’s advice: maybe the secret is in the chant,
“Cootie baby’s.”
