Life is unpredictable, and sometimes there are scary moments that leave our hearts racing.

Especially if your child is involved – it can be beyond frightening to see one of those moments up close.

One mom was filming her daughter’s gymnastics competition when she witnessed a terrifying split-second where the girl was in danger. Fortunately, she also captured the incredible actions of the coach, who managed to step in during that very same second.

It’s a video clip that’s making headlines.

Massachusettes resident, Chad Buczek, owns a gym in Canton called Metro South Gymnastics Academy. He’s also the Head Coach at the facility and has more than 20 years of experience in the world of gymnastics.

Buczek attended the Nashville Nights Gymnastics Competition with his students, including nine-year-old Cherrish Remy. It was there that the viral moment took place.

In the video, Cherrish can be seen running towards the gymnastics vault.

She begins her stunt with a flip and bounces on the springboard. But then a problem arises.

Cherrish doesn’t hit the vault correctly, then lands with only one foot on the edge of the mats. A gasp can be heard as it appears she’s about to fall.

Suddenly, Coach Buczek appears from the side during the split-second she’s falling from the mats.

He amazingly dashes in and catches the gymnast in his arms just in time – causing a great deal of relief.

The quick-thinking move caused onlookers to cheer, and now it has the internet buzzing.

While it’s a coach’s duty to be there for his or her students, you gotta admit, it’s pretty incredible.

Inside Edition interviewed Buczek, Cherrish, and the girl’s mom Justine about what happened.

When complimented on his reflexes, the coach gave a modest reply that makes it seem like catching gymnasts is a normal part of the job.

Justine added in that it’s not the first time he’s helped “save” Cherrish either. Apparently, coaches really need to be on their toes in gymnastics!

The mom shared with Inside Edition what it was like to witness the scene in person.

Understandably, it was a frightening moment for Justine, which she ended up capturing on film. She explained:

“It was terrifying, I instantly broke into a sweat.”

The coach also spoke with The Enterprise about his viral catch.

Apparently, Buczek could tell that Cherrish’s technique wasn’t on point and that he had to react. He told the publication:

“Honestly, it’s just instincts. I knew it was off. And I knew I had to get in there.”

While he’s not certain if she would have been injured, he could tell by the girl’s approach that a fall was coming.

“She probably would have landed on her feet. The only issue would have been the cement.”

As they say, not all heroes wear capes. In this story, the hero was simply wearing coaching attire.

One viewer wrote:

“Have huge respect for people that anticipate things that way or think really fast to prevent accidents. Bless him”

Another commented:

“Good catch! Could’ve ended with a broken bone or two and months of physical rehabilitation. He timed the catch perfectly and avoided injury to the girl and himself!”
