When Presley Brooks, 8, went home that day from school, she thought it was just going to be an ordinary day.
Her mother, Courtney, opened the door when she and her brother, Reef, arrived at the house and were quickly met by their younger sibling. It was obvious from the way Presley greeted her younger sibling that she loved them.
So we’re curious how Presley and Reef will react when they see their mom’s surprise in the living room.
“Nana has something to tell you,” Courtney told her children.
Courtney was so excited to show her surprise but she needed to make sure they were ready. When they were ready, she invited Presley and Reef to join her in the living room. When they reached the living room, Presley paused for a moment and her jaw dropped.
Her baby sister is finally here! She ran towards her grandmother and her baby sister but had to stop to catch her breath.
She was about to reach out to her baby sister but her tears were about to come out. She wanted to compose herself first before she even touched her sister.
Presley sat down on the sofa while Courtney giggled, amused at what was happening before her.
“Are you okay?” Courtney asked Presley.
Presley nodded but she couldn’t contain her happiness and excitement. She was fighting back tears when her mom asked her if she wanted to hold her baby sister.
Presley was so excited because the past two and a half weeks, her baby sister, Charleigh, had spent her time in the hospital since she was born.
Charleigh was born prematurely at 34 weeks and her lungs hadn’t fully developed yet.
Since it was still the season for respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and flu at that time, the doctors said that she still needed to stay in the NICU a little bit longer. The ventilator will help strengthen her lungs so she can go home.
And because Charleigh was in the NICU, Presley and her siblings weren’t allowed to visit her at the hospital.
This was the first time they were going to meet Charleigh in person.
Nana stood up to bring Charleigh to Presley, who had her arms out, ready to receive her. Obviously, Presley helped take care of her other younger sibling because she knew what she needed to do to carry Charleigh.
Presley couldn’t keep her eyes off her baby sister!
“Do you love her?” Courtney asked.
Presley nodded before she returned her attention back to Charleigh.
Isn’t Presley just the sweetest big sister?
Courtney is such a lucky mother to have children who are so excited to be with each other.
We have a feeling these two sisters are going to grow up to be the best of friends with such a loving start right from the beginning!
