One of the newest platforms in social media is the viral video platform TikTok. On it, users post about everything from their daily lives to humorous takes on current events. One mom, in particular, used the platform to raise awareness about the difficulties of working moms during the age of COVID-19.

The video, posted by mom Maggie Mundwiller on TikTok, recounts how she had been invited to a job interview in mid-June. The only problem was that Mundwiller had no child care for her 1-year-old son, Mylo.

A child-friendly company

Then the company did something unexpected, according to Mundwiller.

Expecting to have to cancel, the interviewer told her to bring Mylo along with her. The interviewer even made the statement that the company was “child-friendly,” which was a relief to Mundwiller.

“I was so excited and inspired,” Mundwiller told Good Morning America. “How cool is that — that a company would be so welcoming? It’s awesome to know that there are companies out there that are willing to work with parents and understand the struggles that parents are going through and just accommodate.”

As the video continues, Mundwiller and her son get ready for the interview.

And it seems Mylo cleans up pretty well. First, he gets his hair combed before putting on his interview suit. Next, he washes the wheels of his stroller. After all, first impressions are important.

Next, Mylo makes sure that his resume is in order. He has a set of special skills, the most notable of which is the ability to destroy a clean space in 30 seconds. He can also take off his own diaper and has a year’s worth of experience under his belt. For his two references, he lists his mom and dad.

The purpose behind posting the video to TikTok, according to Mundwiller, was her desire to shed light on the plight of working moms, especially in the COVID-19 pandemic going on.

So far, the video has over 9 million views. The adorable Mylo has stolen hearts online.

Mundwiller had been laid off from her last job right before returning from six weeks maternity leave after she had Mylo. The COVID-19 pandemic only complicated matters, making it hard for her to look for another job, especially since her husband had work and couldn’t watch Mylo so she could go to an interview.

“It’s really disappointing because I’ve had to miss opportunities throughout COVID,” Mundwiller said. “The doctor’s recommendation was to keep him isolated, keep him at home. It was really just our family unit in our home so I didn’t have any additional support to help with Mylo while my husband would go to work and I was at home to even do a Zoom interview.”

Mylo made quite the impression

Cute as a button, Mylo seemed to take it all in stride, even snagging the interviewer’s pickle during the process. For updates on Mundwiller and Mylo, check out Mundwiller’s TikTok.
