Stepping into a dance school led by a well-known professional choreographer can be quite intimidating for some, as you definitely need a basic sense of rhythm and the ability to bust out some moves.
For choreographer Phil Wright, however, all that matters is having fun and being able to teach everyone, no matter their experience or age.
The talented dancer has been quite popular on online channels for years now, as his inclusive ‘jam sessions’ as he likes to call it, have the tendency to go viral and for good reason.
He’s also the founder of something called The Parent Jam, where he invites parents and their children to dance together.
If you can’t find him in his dance studio in Los Angeles, he’s probably traveling around the world to share his passion for dancing. His number one mission is to motivate and inspire others and bring people together through his dancing classes.
In his latest open dance class session, he came up with a choreography for DJ Khaled’s “To The Max” hit.
Canadian rapper Drake is also featured in the single, and it has gone gold in the United States with over 500,000 sales and numerous Top 100 spots in worldwide music charts.
As you can see in the video, the dance classes are always filled with energetic people who just love to bust out a couple of moves. And even though perfection doesn’t matter and it’s all about the fun – you can clearly see that they’ve put some serious effort into this.
As mentioned above, the choreographer who gives the classes wants to be as inclusive as possible and will teach his classes to anyone who wants to. The popular song by DJ Khaled has a rather fast tempo of 150 beats per minute and you can just feel the energy flowing in the dance room.
The first dance duo starts things off with a bang, and you can clearly see that mom and son are feeling the vibe.
When the beat drops a couple of seconds into the song, so does one of the dancers.
It shouldn’t come to a surprise given Phil’s track record – but the choreography is absolutely excellent. More importantly, it works so well with all the dancers because some of them are given unique moves that fit their personality or dance style better.
The next dance duo didn’t only steal the show but has stolen the hearts of millions of viewers online as well.
We see a young girl dancing with an elderly man, who’s presumably her grandfather or her uncle. And even though the man doesn’t have that youthful energy as his younger dance partner, you can just see the heartwarming smile on his face. He’s clearly extremely happy that he was able to be a part of this dance routine, and the choreography makes it work surprisingly well. What an absolutely amazing duo!
And it doesn’t stop there.
There were plenty of other teams who were up to the challenge, including two adorable brothers and their mom. A family that dances together stays together!
The facial expressions of the little girl in the next section are absolutely priceless. The rest of the teams didn’t disappoint as well and made the choreographer very proud.
All of the routines were posted on YouTube, and it has already been seen by almost four million people.
The comments are full of people who are praising Phil’s philosophy and open dance classes, and the granddaughter and grandfather duo received tons of attention as well.
“Phil, I just want to say that this class of yours seems like the most welcoming ever. Everyone always looks like they are having fun, there are so many different types of people but everyone cheers for each other! I would totally go to this class,” one viewer wrote.
“The granddaughter grandfather duo had my heart!! I can only imagine how happy he was to be apart of that!” Jamie Presto commented.
One thing is for sure: all of these dance teams are taking DJ Khaled’s song to the max.
