Maxwell's experience in the store was like a nightmare until a kind worker went above and beyond her job duties.

When your child is sick it breaks your heart. Any parent would want to take away their little one’s pain, sniffles, or tummy ache. But since we can’t, the least we can do is give them the best care possible.

Typically a day with a sick child might include cartoons and soup. Let’s face it though, it can get a little hectic too. Especially if you’re handling it alone, and don’t have a partner to run to the store, or tag team the clean-ups.

One dad named Maxwell T. Auger had a “messy” experience with his sick baby that he’ll never forget.

His poor little girl had a stomach illness. And as if watching her suffer wasn’t bad enough, he had to miss a day of work to take care of her, AND take the sick child with him to the store since his wife was at work.

“A few weeks ago, my daughter Chelsea was really sick. My wife had to work and Chelsea had a temperature and couldn’t keep anything down,” he wrote on Facebook, according to the Love What Matters Facebook page. “I had to send the babysitter home and miss work! I called the pediatrician and was given a list of things I needed to keep my baby hydrated, etc.”

Once his daughter seemed to feel a little better he figured it was safe to make a run to the store for a few things that she needed.

He explained:

“She was doing okay, so I decided to make the trip up to Meijers to get the things we needed. My daughter was doing great, she was being such a good girl, she wasn’t whining, screaming, or crying, just being a 19-month-old lol.”

All seemed well, but soon everything turned sour.

“She was doing so good, I bought her a new stuffed animal she was holding onto the entire cart ride. I go into the aisle where the baby food is and that’s when the party started!”

Maxwell’s daughter started to look a little green – and you know what that means.

“My daughter looked up at me, her eyes started to water (as I’m holding her), and she pukes ALL OVER ME and all over the aisle and the coat she was wearing. Now, covered in vomit and a crying baby, I still have to get her pedialyte we needed, among other things, and I had a cart full of stuff we needed,” he recalls.

It was time to go. However, there were still some obstacles to get through.

“I’m pushing her towards the front of the store, holding her in one arm and and pushing the cart in the other. She starts puking again, ALL over me and the aisle. Instead of helping me, people were staring! A crowd starts to form (ARE YOU SERIOUS?!).”

While everyone else was enjoying the show, an extremely (and we mean EXTREMELY) generous person stepped in to help. Regardless of all the puke.

“I see out of the corner of my eye what looked to be an employee. I said to her, with my voice trembling and tears welling up in my eyes, feeling helpless, ‘Ma’am can you please help me ring this stuff out?” Auger said. “I have to get her home.’ Without a hesitation, she said, ‘Yes sir, absolutely,’ and put her arms out to hold my kid covered in puke, so I can take my puke-covered coat off and Chelsea’s.”

It was not her job to do this, this woman could have easily walked away but she saw someone in need and stepped up.

She was the angel he needed.

“Then she said, ‘Follow me and we will get you out of here, I’ll take care of you.’ I felt like the weight of the world lifted off my shoulders! Here is a lady who not only was willing to help, but she didn’t hesitate to hold my puke-covered, crying kid! Chris K you ARE AN ANGEL!” Auger wrote.

The Love What Matters Facebook post was shared more than 8K times, and many people left heartwarming comments praising the employee.

Maxwell will never forget that day, nor Chris K’s act of kindness.

“You helped me more than I can even begin to express in words. You were an angel to me and my daughter that day and I will NEVER forget what a complete blessing you were! You are an AWESOME human being, and I hope Meijer realizes that they have a ROCK STAR! Please share this, she deserves to have some credit for being a great person and an AWESOME MEIJER EMPLOYEE!”
