Bringing a new life into the world is a special kind of miracle and, although the event can incredibly stressful (and even frightening at times!), the reward of a baby at the end makes it all worth it.
After nine months of waiting, the big day finally arrives and it’s the most exciting time of your life. But besides mom and dad, there are others who are affected by bringing a new baby home… the siblings.
For humans, the special relationship between siblings is a unique phenomenon.
With siblings, they are either getting along and having fun together or they are at each other’s throats! However, there is one time when they will be at peace.
That moment is when an older sibling meets their baby brother or sister for the very first time. They look at the new baby with a sense of wonder then but, just a few years down the line, they will begin to fight and argue.
But, for the first little while at least, they will be friends.
If you manage to capture that precious moment when the older sibling holds their baby sister or brother for the first time, though, you can lie and tell them that they used to get along when they were younger.
Besides using the footage as an important reminder later on, it’s a moment that’s meant to be cherished. And, often, it can be both heartwarming and hilarious.
The moment little Trevin met his baby brother is a perfect example.
The video was recorded in a hospital room. You can tell that mom is exhausted – and for good reason. She’s just given birth, which is one of the most difficult things to go through!
You can just imagine the energy in that room: after the birth, the atmosphere has calmed down a bit while everyone tries to make things easier for the tired mom.
Trevin is sitting on a chair in the corner, waiting to meet his baby brother.
The little boy, who is as cute as a button, is propped up by a pillow and leaning back in the hospital chair. You can see by his expression that he’s super excited to hold the new baby! It’s a big moment for the big brother.
Trevin had gotten used to seeing his mom’s big baby bump for nine months, and his mom and dad are probably happy that they don’t have to deal with any more questions about how the baby got in there in the first place anymore!
Trevin’s dad brings the newborn baby over. The moment is truly heartwarming.
When the tiny bundle that’s wrapped in blankets comes into view, Trevin yells “BABY!” He’s about to see his baby brother’s face for the first time, and he just can’t contain himself!
Dad kneels down and holds the little baby out so that Trevin can see him.
“Mommy’s belly is gone! This is baby Carso – OOOP, careful, soft”
Trevin is very enthusiastic to finally hold his brother.
Trevin lovingly (and a little too enthusiastically) pats the bundle and takes the tiny new life into his arms. And when he realizes the gravity of the situation, his expression changes.
The toddler’s movements become slower and more careful as he looks at the little human resting in his arms – and you can see he is in complete awe.
The special moment was unbelievably cute, but it also serves as a reminder of the unique connection that siblings share.
It may be hard to see it now, but these two brothers will grow up to play and wrestle in the yard, and they’ll eat their parents out of house and home together – that’s what it’s like to grow up with a brother!
